In fact, evangelical voters in Iowa historically set the tone for presidential primaries \u2014 and the 2024 election season will be no different.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Less than four months from now, Republican presidential candidates at the Iowa caucuses will compete for support from Christian conservatives, whose traditionally high turnout and support for Christian values in public life has long affected caucus results. <\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Iowa has been the focus of presidential primary strategies for years.\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.desmoinesregister.com\/story\/news\/elections\/presidential\/caucus\/2020\/01\/05\/do-iowa-caucus-winners-win-presidency-party-nomination-general-election\/4410195002\/\">Over half<\/a>\u00a0of Iowa caucus winners have gone on to receive their party\u2019s nomination for the presidency since 1972.\u00a0And voting patterns\u00a0indicate\u00a0that, even to have a chance at capturing the party nomination, candidates must first perform well among evangelicals.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Evangelicals made up over two-thirds of Republican caucus-goers in 2016, according to entrance polling.\u00a0Thirty-four percent\u00a0of them voted for Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) (the largest share of the evangelical vote received by any GOP candidate at the time), who then went on to win the Iowa caucuses. Several other candidates who won the evangelical vote in Iowa went on to win the state,\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/2016-election\/key-iowa-evangelical-voters-n500401\">including<\/a>\u00a0former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee in 2008 and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum in 2012. And although these candidates did not\u00a0ultimately become\u00a0GOP party nominees, their success in Iowa nevertheless hinged on evangelical support.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Concerned by the direction our nation is headed, evangelicals are certain to turn out in large numbers this election cycle. There is no question that issues\u00a0regarding\u00a0gender ideology, religious freedom and abortion will give them ample motivation to show up at the polls. <\/p>\n<p>They can no longer endure watching rogue teachers\u2019 unions\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.heritage.org\/education\/commentary\/unions-double-down-inserting-critical-race-theory-education\">teach children that they are inherently bad because of their race<\/a> and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailysignal.com\/2022\/03\/22\/yes-schools-are-secretly-trying-to-gender-transition-kids-and-it-must-be-stopped\/\">force radical gender ideology<\/a> upon students behind\u00a0their\u00a0parents\u2019 backs.\u00a0As of March 2023, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.desmoinesregister.com\/story\/news\/politics\/iowa-poll\/2023\/03\/13\/iowa-poll-majority-support-legislature-gender-affirming-care-ban-lgbtq-bills\/69989888007\/\">more than half<\/a>\u00a0of Iowa adults supported bills that would ban teaching children theories about gender identity at all. Fifty-four percent said they favor legislation banning classroom instruction about sexual orientation.<\/p>\n<p>Serious Republican candidates have already begun differentiating themselves from the pack by championing the values and issues driving Christian voters this cycle. In early 2023, GOP candidates\u00a0gathered\u00a0in Iowa to speak directly to voters about their commitments to religious liberty, the dignity of human life and solving the human crisis at the southern border. <\/p>\n<p>This month,\u00a010\u00a0Republican presidential contenders\u00a0pitched\u00a0themselves once more to thousands of\u00a0likely caucus-goers\u00a0and evangelical voters\u00a0at\u00a0Iowa Faith &amp; Freedom Coalition\u2019s Presidential Town Hall\u00a0in Des Moines.\u00a0They\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.desmoinesregister.com\/story\/news\/elections\/presidential\/caucus\/2023\/09\/16\/republican-presidential-candidates-court-iowa-evangelicals-at-faith-and-freedom-coalition-banquet\/70854047007\/\">shared their\u00a0positions<\/a>\u00a0on the issues of human life, the administrative state, the role of federal law enforcement and\u00a0the enduring intraparty debate\u00a0over traditional conservatism versus populism.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Soon, it will be up to caucus-goers to decide which ones they think will follow through on their promises.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Around the same time Republican candidates were turning their attention and efforts toward Iowa, the Democratic National Committee was moving to end 50 years of Iowa holding its first-in-the-nation nominating contest.\u00a0South Carolina is now the DNC\u2019s favorite to begin the process.\u00a0Although the DNC claims to have chosen the Palmetto State for the sake of a more diverse electorate, its decision will further alienate\u00a0Middle American and working-class voters with Christian values.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Whatever h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ens at the Iowa caucuses will change the course of\u00a0subsequent\u00a0primary elections across the nation, depending on which underperforming candidates inevitably drop out of the race.
