\n The London stage production based on Stranger Things<\/em> has announced its cast and set dates for the beginning of previews and its formal opening. <\/p>\n

\n Stranger Things: The First Shadow<\/em>, a prequel to the Netflix hit that\u2019s set in 1959, will begin previews on Nov. 17 at the Phoenix Theatre in London\u2019s West End, with an opening date set for Dec. 14. Rehearsals for the play, written by Kate Telfry and directed by Stephen Daldry with co-director Justin Martin, are underway.<\/p>\n

\n \u201cIt\u2019s a joy to discover the world of\u00a0Stranger Things: The First Shadow<\/em>\u00a0with our ferociously talented cast and watch the alchemy amongst our entire company grow as we together explore this new play,\u201d Daldry and Martin said in a statement. \u201cThey\u2019re an extraordinarily gifted group of actors, and we can\u2019t wait to share this origin story with audiences.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n The First Shadow<\/em> stars Shane Attwooll, Christopher Buckley, Michael Jibson, Oscar Lloyd, Louis McCartney, Isabella Papp<\/a>as, Patrick Vaill, Lauren Ward and Ella Karuna Williams. The ensemble also includes Kemi Awoderu,\u00a0Chase Brown,\u00a0Ammar Duffus,\u00a0Gilles Geary,\u00a0Florence Guy,\u00a0Max Harwood,\u00a0Matthew Pidgeon,\u00a0Calum Ross,\u00a0Maisie Norma Seaton,\u00a0Tricia Adele-Turner,\u00a0Lauren Arney,\u00a0Reya-Nyomi Brown,\u00a0Patricia Castro,\u00a0Lydia Fraser,\u00a0Isaac Gryn,\u00a0Mark Hammersley,\u00a0Tom Peters,\u00a0Kingdom Sibanda,\u00a0Tiana Simone,\u00a0Danny Sykes\u00a0and\u00a0Meesha Turner.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n The play\u2019s logline: \u201cHawkins, 1959: a regular town with regular worries. Young Jim Hopper\u2019s (Lloyd) car won\u2019t start, Bob Newby\u2019s (Buckley) sister (Williams) won\u2019t take his radio show seriously and Joyce Maldonado (Pappas) just wants to graduate and get the hell out of town. When new student Henry Creel (McCartney) arrives, his family finds that a fresh start isn\u2019t so easy \u2026 and the shadows of the past have a very long reach.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n Netflix announced the stage production, its first stab at live theater, in July 2022 and is presenting the play alongside Sonia Friedman Productions. Telfry, a writer and executive producer on the TV series<\/a>, wrote the play, from a story by the Duffer brothers, Jack Thorne and Telfry. The Duffers are creative producers, and Stranger Things<\/em> EP Shawn Levy\u2019s 21 Laps Entertainment is associate producer.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
