{"id":593364,"date":"2023-10-06T04:28:46","date_gmt":"2023-10-06T01:28:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/trump-voluntarily-dismisses-lawsuit-against-michael-cohen\/"},"modified":"2023-10-06T04:28:46","modified_gmt":"2023-10-06T01:28:46","slug":"trump-voluntarily-dismisses-lawsuit-against-michael-cohen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/trump-voluntarily-dismisses-lawsuit-against-michael-cohen\/","title":{"rendered":"#Trump voluntarily dismisses lawsuit against Michael Cohen"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/10\/Cohen-Trump-Oct.-2023.png?w=900\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Former President Trump filed to voluntarily dismiss his lawsuit against Michael Cohen on Thursday evening, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.flsd.645291\/gov.uscourts.flsd.645291.77.0.pdf\">court documents<\/a> show.<\/p>\n<p>The sudden twist comes just days before Trump was set to sit for a deposition in the case.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Trump sued Cohen, his longtime attorney and fixer, in April for $500 million over accusations that Cohen maliciously worked to acquire attention and wealth at Trump\u2019s expense, in particular taking aim at his book, podcast and many <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>earances.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrump didn\u2019t want no smoke,\u201d Benjamin Brodsky, Cohen\u2019s attorney, told The Hill.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit came just days after Trump was indicted in New York on 34 criminal counts over reimbursements he made to Cohen for a 2016 hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels. Trump pleaded not guilty.<\/p>\n<p>Cohen is expected to be a key witness in the prosecutors\u2019 case, which is set to go to trial in late March. Trump this week filed a motion to dismiss the charges, and he also faces three other criminal indictments.<\/p>\n<p>Trump in the lawsuit claimed Cohen breached his contract, among other claims, alleging he has regularly revealed information that was deemed confidential by the nature of their attorney-client relationship, with Trump further claiming that significant portions of Cohen\u2019s claims were false.<\/p>\n<p>Cohen has turned against his former boss, regularly attacking him on the airwaves and social media. <\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Though the lawsuit did not mention Trump\u2019s New York indictment directly, the claims include Cohen\u2019s statements about the hush payment arrangement at the center of Trump\u2019s case.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Cohen is also a potential witness in Trump\u2019s ongoing New York civil fraud trial.<\/p>\n<p>Trump was scheduled to sit for a deposition in his lawsuit against Cohen on Monday. It was originally slated for this week but was delayed so Trump could <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a> to Manhattan for the fraud trial.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr3_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>The Hill has reached out to Trump\u2019s attorney for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Cohen in July had settled for an undisclosed amount in his lawsuit with the Trump Organization over accusations that they owed Cohen $1.3 million in legal fees.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Copyright 2023 Nexstar Media Inc.
