According to documents seen by Bloomberg<\/a>, the State Department\u2019s analysis of the upcoming legislation is sounding the alarm on the European Parliament\u2019s version<\/a> of the act. In June, for example, executives from some of the bloc\u2019s biggest companies expressed \u201cserious concerns\u201d in a letter sent to the Parliament, Commission, and member states.<\/p>\n \u201cThe draft legislation would jeopardise Europe\u2019s competitiveness and technological sovereignty without effectively tackling the challenges we are and will be facing,\u201d said the letter.<\/p>\n In contrast, some EU countries including Italy have started regulating generative AI even before the act\u2019s enforcement, while a July survey showed that European consumers believe that the technology<\/a> should be heavily regulated.<\/p>\n The AI Act will come into force in late 2025 or early 2026.
