J.D. Vance (R) during an interaction on a United Auto Workers (UAW) picket line in their home state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFirst time here?\u201d Kaptur asked Vance, according to a video from <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/13abc\/status\/1710324182053957787\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/13abc\/status\/1710324182053957787\">local station WTVG 13 Action News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cFirst time here, yeah,\u201d Vance responded.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThank you for coming,\u201d she then said.<\/p>\n<p>The brief conversation followed an awkward interaction during which Kaptur held out a fist as Vance extended an open hand for a shake. Vance then attempted to extend his hand for a fist bump as Kaptur drew her hand back. <\/p>\n<p>The two Ohio politicians were on a picket line at the Toledo Assembly Complex in Toledo, Ohio, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/13abc\/status\/1710324182053957787\">according<\/a> to a post on X, the platform formerly known as <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a> by 13Action <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a>. The plant <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/media.stellantisnorthamerica.com\/newsrelease.do?id=339\">appears<\/a> to be aligned with Stellantis, one of the Big Three auto companies UAW workers are striking against.<\/p>\n<p>Vance has said that UAW members should compel President Joe Biden and the Biden administration to end the subsidization of the electric vehicle (EV) industry. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThose who have claimed there will be a \u2018just transition\u2019 to EVs should visit Northeast Ohio for a glimpse into the industry\u2019s bleak future,\u201d Vance wrote in an op-ed for the Toledo Blade in September.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>He also called on UAW leadership to act, arguing this is \u201can opportunity they cannot let slip through their grasp.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cRather than relenting to the Biden administration\u2019s unjust transition to EVs, the UAW should use their leverage and force the President to stop subsidizing an industry that benefits Communist China more than it does American workers,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Copyright 2023 Nexstar Media Inc.
