Ty Dolla $ign has brought an old Kanye West leak back to life, updating the track and using it to create more buzz around his upcoming album.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday (October 10), the 41-year-old revived his previously scrapp<\/a>ed collaboration with Ye and Nicki Minaj, \u201cNew Body,\u201d while taking over the turntables at a club in Florence, Italy \u2014 which wasn\u2019t completely a surprise as he did the same last month.<\/p>\n

At the end of September, Dolla $ign previewed the track at the Le Baroque Club in Geneva, Switzerland after it went missing for years, topping the tease off with a major announcement when he told the crowd: \u201cNew album on the muthafuckin\u2019 way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nicki Minaj reunited with Kanye West on \u201cNew Body\u201d for his planned Yandhi<\/em> album in 2019, but the release date came and went, with their collaboration ultimately getting shelved. During an interview with Hot 106<\/em><\/a> last year, she explained how Kanye\u2019s decision to record a gospel album was the reason for the song not dropping.<\/p>\n

\u201cI respect everybody and where they are in life, where they are spiritually,\u201d Minaj said. \u201cThe public adored \u2018New Body.\u2019 Like, \u2018New Body\u2019 is the biggest hit record that never came out. So what I thought was interesting was that Kanye made me write my \u2018New Body\u2019 verse four times over in order to fit into where he was creatively and spiritually in his life, right, only to then, I go on the internet a few months later to see him on Drink Champs<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued: \u201cI missed it by a year, I guess. Had \u2018New Body\u2019 been out when he was not in his gospel era, then it would\u2019ve seen the light of day. But it didn\u2019t, so it wasn\u2019t meant to be. Everybody knows that\u2019s the hit that got away \u2026 I think the ship has sailed for \u2018New Body,\u2019 everybody has come to love the original way they heard it.\u201d<\/p>\n

During an interview with The Shade Room<\/em><\/a> in 2019, Nicki Minaj revealed she was asked to re-record her \u201cNew Body\u201d verse in order to turn it into a gospel track for Jesus Is King<\/em>. However, she claimed she wasn\u2019t \u201cseeing eye to eye\u201d with Kanye West.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s funny is that I did a song with Kanye, that he now wants to transform into a gospel song,\u201d she said. \u201cI done wrote three different verses chile, and I don\u2019t know. We ain\u2019t seeing eye to eye on it. I don\u2019t know, but of course, I love and respect Kanye, and Kim, we\u2019ll see what happens with that.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
