A source told TMZ that Isley\u2019s death was caused by a heart attack. The FADER has reached out to Isley\u2019s attorney, Brian D. Caplan, for independent confirmation. Caplan shared the following statement from Isley\u2019s daughter with <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/news\/rudolph-isley-co-founder-of-the-isley-brothers-dies-at-84\/\">Pitchfork<\/a>:<\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<style>\n<\/style>\n<div id=\"content_block-255301\" class=\"content_block breaker triple_gutter_right triple_gutter_left block_quote\">\n<div class=\"media_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"block_quote_wrapper paragraph_wrapper\">\n  Rudolph Isley, a founding member of the world famous Isley Brothers, died peacefully in his sleep on the morning of October 11, 2023. He died at his home, with his devoted wife Elaine by his side. They had been married for 68 years. Rudolph was a deeply religious man who loved Jesus.\n<\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content_block paragraph triple_gutter_right triple_gutter_left\">\n<div class=\"content_inner_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<style>\n<\/style>\n<div id=\"content_block-255302\" class=\"content_block paragraph text triple_gutter_right triple_gutter_left center_align\">\n<div class=\"content_inner_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"paragraph_wrapper center_align\">\n<p>            Ronald Isley, The Isley Brothers\u2019 lead singer, commented on his brother\u2019s death to <i><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/rudolph-isley-isley-brothers-dead-obit-1234852904\/\">Rolling Stone<\/a><\/i>, saying, \u201cThere are no words to express my feelings and the love I have for my brother. Our family will miss him. In 1954, he founded The Isley Brothers with his older brother, O\u2019Kelly \u201cKelly\u201d Isley Jr., and two of his younger brothers, Ronald and Vernon Isley. Vernon, the youngest of the group and their original lead vocalist, died at 13 in a bicycle accident the following year, and they disbanded. <\/p>\n<p>            The remaining three members regrouped in 1957, with Ron as the lead singer and Rudy and Kelly on backing vocals, moving to New York in search of a record deal. They found one two years later with RCA, at which point the rest of the Isley family moved to Englewood, New Jersey. In 1959, they released their first major hit, the immortal \u201cShout!\u201d Following the release of their debut album (also titled <i>Shout!<\/i>) the same year, a cover of Phil Medley and Bert Berns\u2019 \u201cTwist &amp; Shout\u201d became their second breakthrough, before the Beatles\u2019 1960 recording made the song world famous.<\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>            The \u201960s saw the group collaborating with future legends such as Jimi Hendrix and Elton John and signing with Berry Gordy\u2019s Tamla Records \u2014 where they released \u201cThis Old Heart Of Mine (Is Weak For You),\u201d arguably their biggest hit \u2014 and creating their own label, T-Neck Records. On T-Neck, they recorded their first Grammy-winning song, \u201cIt\u2019s Your Thing,\u201d in 1969, and their first Billboard No. 1 album, <i>The Heat Is On<\/i>, in 1975. By the latter year, the band had expanded to include a backing band featuring the younger Isley brothers, Ernie and Marvin, and Rudy\u2019s brother-in-law, Chris Jasper. <\/p>\n<p>            In 1984, the group\u2019s three newest members broke off to form their own band, Isley-Jasper-Isley. Kelly died two years later, and Rudy left The Isley Brothers in 1989 to become a Christian minister. By the time of his exit, The Isley Brothers had a massive repertoire of hits, from \u201cThat Lady\u201d to \u201cFootsepts in the Dark\u201d to \u201cBetween the Sheets.\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content_block paragraph triple_gutter_right triple_gutter_left\">\n<div class=\"content_inner_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<style>\n<\/style>\n<div id=\"content_block-255308\" class=\"content_block paragraph text triple_gutter_right triple_gutter_left center_align\">\n<div class=\"content_inner_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"paragraph_wrapper center_align\">\n<p>            After Kelly\u2019s death and Rudy\u2019s departure, Ron and Ernie continued to perform as The Isley Brothers. Marvin returned in 1991, left in 1997, and died in 2010. The band (including Rudy) were <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rockhall.com\/inductees\/isley-brothers\">inducted into the Rock &amp; Roll Hall of Fame<\/a> in 1992. Ron and Ernie have been active as recently as last year, collaborating with Beyonc\u00e9, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=leUQqKt5g6U&amp;ab_channel=TheIsleyBrothers\">2 Chainz<\/a>, and Fetty Wap. <\/p>\n<p>            Rudy was <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.songhall.org\/profile\/rudolph_isley\">voted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame<\/a> in 2022. At the time of his death, he and Ron were <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/news\/isley-brothers-will-go-to-court-over-band-name-trademark\/\">fighting in court<\/a> over the rights to The Isley Brothers\u2019 name.
