\n Attorney General<\/a> Bill Barr said Wednesday that Jacob Blake was committing a felony and armed when a police officer in Kenosha, Wisconsin shot him seven times in the back.<\/p>\n

Barr was doing an interview with CNN\u2019s Wolf Blitzer when he made the claims about Blake, without citing the specific felony Blake was allegedly committing.<\/p>\n

Initially, the attorney general said he was \u201cnot going to talk about the Blake case\u201d because it was separate from the killing of George Floyd, who died after an officer kneeled on his neck in Minneapolis.<\/p>\n

\u201cFloyd was already subdued, incapacitated in handcuffs and was not armed,\u201d Barr said. \u201cIn the Jacob case, he was in the midst of committing a felony and he was armed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Blitzer pointed out that in both police and the Blake family\u2019s version of events, cops did not know there was a knife until after the shooting.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis family says he wasn\u2019t armed. There may have been a knife in the car,\u201d Blitzer said, \u201cbut he wasn\u2019t armed when he was shot.\u201d<\/p>\n

When pressed for more specifics, Barr replied: \u201cI\u2019ve stated what I believe to be the difference.\u201d<\/p>\n

Attorneys for Blake, who is paralyzed and recovering in the hospital, said that Barr was simply \u201cmisinformed\u201d on the facts of the case.<\/p>\n

\u201cAG Barr is misinformed. Police were aggressors from start to finish,\u201d the lawyer, Ben Crump, said in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was never justification for deadly force. Innocent bystanders were in line of fire when he shot 7 times into Jacob\u2019s back. At all material times, his back was to them. He never posed an imminent threat.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
