Randy Weber (R-Texas) on Friday shot back at criticism over the House GOP amid the Speaker\u2019s race, claiming \u201cdemocracy is hard work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is part of the hammering this out in the family, we\u2019re a family,\u201d Weber said in an interview on The Hill on <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a>Nation. \u201cWe\u2019ll keep the family together and the Republican Conference, we\u2019ll get everybody back on board.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cQuite frankly, I\u2019m glad everybody is getting their say,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Asked if he was embarrassed by the drama, he simply said \u201cno.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Republicans nominated House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) to be Speaker Friday before recessing for the weekend. The vote came one day after Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) who originally secured the nomination, dropped out after not receiving enough support from fellow Republicans.<\/p>\n<p>As it stands, Jordan has 152 votes, beating out Rep. Austin Scott (R-Ga.) who entered a last-minute bid. But Jordan still falls short of the 217 votes needed to clinch the gavel.<\/p>\n<p>The Texas Republican said he thinks the discussions between House Republicans are healthy and is \u201cglad everybody\u2019s getting to stand up and say what they believe in\u201d and who they support as speaker.<\/p>\n<p>Weber said he plans to stay in Washington over the weekend to \u201cget things done and not spend American taxpayers\u2019 money flying back and forth.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>The lawmaker added that he believes House Republicans will ultimately come to an agreement to elect Jordan on the House floor by Monday \u2014 but stopped short of making any promises.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYogi Bear said the problem with predictions is you\u2019re dealing with the future so I don\u2019t want to make that prediction,\u201d Weber said. \u201cIt could go to Monday night, it could go to Tuesday, let\u2019s see.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>NewsNation is a cable news channel started by Nexstar <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Media<\/a> Group, which also owns The Hill.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Copyright 2023 Nexstar Media Inc.
