\n Thirty years after The Nightmare Before Christmas<\/em> was released, director Henry Selick is sharing the idea he has for a potential prequel.<\/p>\n

\n In an interview with People <\/em>magazine<\/a>, published online Friday, the filmmaker admitted that he wouldn\u2019t be jumping at the idea of making a sequel due to the large amount of work associated with the first film, saying it\u2019s \u201ca perfect movie [that] came out of the perfect time, only to grow into something far bigger over the years.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n He added, \u201cI think Tim [Burton] in particular feels like, why mess with that? He certainly doesn\u2019t need to make more money from a sequel. He has had so many other successes, and so far nobody\u2019s come up with a\u00a0great idea for a sequel. And I still think that Tim gets to decide. I don\u2019t think there\u2019s any idea that would convince him.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n But one idea isn\u2019t completely off the table. Selick noted that he may be more inclined to do a prequel. \u201cThere might be a more interesting story there about how Jack became the King of Halloween Town,\u201d the Coraline<\/em> director explained.<\/p>\n

\n As for if any of the original cast would return for another film, Chris Sarandon said he \u201cabsolutely\u201d would reprise his role, voicing Jack Skellington.<\/p>\n

\n \u201cTo quote Henry, \u2018Fuck yeah,\u2019 \u201d he told the outlet. \u201cIf there were a sequel, I\u2019d be there in a minute.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n The 1993 stop-motion animated movie, from a story created by\u00a0Burton, follows Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town, as he stumbles into Christmas Town. After being so intrigued with the idea of Christmas, he tries to recreate it in his town instead of Halloween.<\/p>\n

\n The Nightmare Before Christmas<\/em>\u00a0is currently streaming on Disney+.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
