{"id":595186,"date":"2023-10-22T13:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-10-22T10:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/biden-senate-democrats-see-fundraising-edge-in-third-quarter\/"},"modified":"2023-10-22T13:00:00","modified_gmt":"2023-10-22T10:00:00","slug":"biden-senate-democrats-see-fundraising-edge-in-third-quarter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/biden-senate-democrats-see-fundraising-edge-in-third-quarter\/","title":{"rendered":"#Biden, Senate Democrats see fundraising edge in third quarter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/10\/bidenjoe_092223gn07_w.jpg?w=900\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Democrats are seeing an early fundraising edge in several key 2024 races, with third-quarter figures giving President Biden a boost over his Republican rivals and giving vulnerable Senate Democrats the advantage in closely watched contests just more than a year out from next November\u2019s Election Day.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe good <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> for Democrats is that, even in what looks like it\u2019s going be a close election, they are holding their own or exceeding the totals, sometimes by pretty big numbers, and putting some pretty big points on the board up there against their Republican rivals,\u201d said Democratic strategist Jon Reinish.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Former President Trump, who is the front-runner of the GOP presidential race, outraised his Republican competitors, though\u00a0his numbers\u00a0slightly trailed\u00a0Biden\u2019s in the third quarter.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s principal campaign committee took in $24.8 million from July through September, ahead of Trump\u2019s $24.5 million, according to the latest filings from the Federal Election Committee (FEC).\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Together with his joint fundraising committee and the Democratic National Committee (DNC), Biden\u2019s campaign\u00a0announced a total haul\u00a0of more than $71 million during the quarter.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEverybody has to raise a lot of money. It\u2019s how you spend it and where you spend it,\u201d said Democratic strategist Kristen Hawn. \u201cThe president has a lot of support, he\u2019s very strong going into this cycle. Trump has a lot of baggage he\u2019s going to have to make up for.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Hawn pointed to Trump\u2019s ongoing legal battles, which include multiple criminal indictments, and noted he\u2019s at the disadvantage of having to spend money on legal fees.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Democratic incumbents also outraised Republican challengers in several key Senate races. \u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>In Ohio, Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown pulled in $5.8 million, beating out his\u00a0Republican rivals\u2019 hauls and ending September with more than $11 million cash on hand.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u200b\u200bIn Montana, Democratic Sen. Jon Tester\u00a0announced he\u2019d raised more than $5 million\u00a0for his reelection campaign,\u00a0substantially outpacing\u00a0Republican Tim Sheehy\u2019s roughly $2.8 million and ending with $13 million cash on hand.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In Nevada, Democratic Sen. Jacky Rosen\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/docquery.fec.gov\/cgi-bin\/forms\/C00606939\/1731306\/\">raised $2.7 million<\/a>\u00a0and had $8.8 million cash on hand, while Republican Sam Brown\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/docquery.fec.gov\/cgi-bin\/forms\/C00845032\/1730162\/\">raised around $1.2 million<\/a>\u00a0and had around $900,000 cash on hand.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr3_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cLuckily for a lot of these Democrats, what\u2019s eating up money on the Republican side are very acerbic, very competitive primaries among the Republican field,\u201d Reinish said.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Wisconsin Democratic Sen. Tammy Baldwin, who doesn\u2019t have a main GOP challenger yet, raised $3.1 million in the third quarter. Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. Bob Casey, who\u2019s been\u00a0challenged\u00a0by Republican Dave McCormick,\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/bobcasey.com\/2023\/10\/senator-bob-casey-raises-3-2-million-in-the-third-quarter\/\">reported raising $3.2 million<\/a>, which his team said was more than in any quarter of his 2018 reelection bid.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>These <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cookpolitical.com\/ratings\/senate-race-ratings\">six races are\u00a0rated<\/a>\u00a0as \u201ctoss up\u201d or \u201clean Democrat\u201d by the political handic<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>er Cook Political Report. In Michigan, where incumbent\u00a0Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D) is\u00a0not seeking reelection,\u00a0Democratic Rep. Elissa Slotkin brought in\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/docquery.fec.gov\/cgi-bin\/forms\/C00834218\/1730813\/\">around $3 million<\/a>\u00a0for the race rated as \u201clean Democratic.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr4_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Overall, Senate Democrats face a tough election map next year as it tries to hold onto its slim 51-49 control of the upper chamber.<\/p>\n<p>Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) spokesperson Tommy Garcia told The Hill that Senate Democratic candidates\u2019 \u201cformidable fundraising\u201d during the third quarter shows voters and donors \u201crecognize the stakes of this election\u201d as the 2024 race heats up.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He said the fundraising wins show the Democrats are \u201claying the groundwork\u201d for 2024 victories \u2014 though strategists stress the party is up against a difficult map next year.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr5_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>In West Virginia and Arizona Senate contests \u2014\u00a0both rated as \u201ctoss up\u201d by Cook Political Report\u00a0and considered among\u00a0the most likely Senate seats to flip in 2024\u00a0\u2014 the incumbents haven\u2019t yet said whether they\u2019ll run for reelection.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Mountain State\u2019s Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/docquery.fec.gov\/cgi-bin\/forms\/C00486563\/1731664\/\">raised around $715,000<\/a>\u00a0in the third quarter, a step down from\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/docquery.fec.gov\/cgi-bin\/forms\/C00486563\/1714658\/\">the $1.2 million<\/a>\u00a0he raised in the second quarter \u2014 but he\u2019s still outpacing Republican Gov. Jim Justice and Republican Rep. Alex Mooney in both funds raised and cash on hand.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Notably, GOP candidates preferred by the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) in West Virginia and Montana \u2014\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nrsc.org\/uncategorized\/nrsc-chair-daines-statement-on-jim-justice-announcement-2023-04-27\/\">Justice<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nrsc.org\/uncategorized\/nrsc-chair-daines-statement-on-tim-sheehy-announcement-2023-06-27\/\">Sheehy<\/a>, respectively \u2014 did better than other Republican hopefuls in those states.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr6_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Democrat-turned-independent Sen. Kyrsten Sinema\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/docquery.fec.gov\/cgi-bin\/forms\/C00508804\/1730197\/\">raised around $826,000<\/a>\u00a0in the Grand Canyon State\u2019s Senate race, less than Democrat Rep. Ruben Gallego\u2019s\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/docquery.fec.gov\/cgi-bin\/forms\/C00558627\/1731189\/\">$3.1 million haul<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 though she still boasts roughly double Gallego\u2019s cash on hand. Republicans Mark Lamb and Kari Lake are both in the running, setting the race up for a complicated three-way contest if Sinema does try for reelection.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Reinish said Sinema\u2019s numbers in Arizona \u201cdon\u2019t seem very encouraging,\u201d but noted the unique landscape of a possible contest between the independent incumbent and nominees from the two main parties.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not just incumbents outpacing their challengers \u2014 Democratic candidates also brought in more cash against some Republican senators up for reelection next year, according to receipts from the July-September window.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr7_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>In Texas, Sen. Ted Cruz\u00a0(R) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/docquery.fec.gov\/cgi-bin\/forms\/C00492785\/1730305\/\">raised $3.1 million<\/a>\u00a0for his reelection bid from July through September, according to the filings. Democratic Rep. Colin Allred, who\u2019s trying to jump from the House to the upper chamber, brought in $4.7 million.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Allred also had more cash on hand at the end of the quarter, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/docquery.fec.gov\/cgi-bin\/forms\/C00839597\/1731195\/\">with\u00a0$7.9 million<\/a>\u00a0to Cruz\u2019s $5.8 million.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In Florida, Republican Sen. Rick Scott raised\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/docquery.fec.gov\/cgi-bin\/forms\/C00676965\/1730617\/\">roughly $1.6 million<\/a>\u00a0in the third quarter for his reelection bid \u2014 but Democrat Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, a\u00a0former House member, edged Scott out\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/docquery.fec.gov\/cgi-bin\/forms\/C00848648\/1731464\/\">with $1.7 million<\/a>. Scott, though, boasts more cash on hand.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Republicans appeared to have the advantage in competitive House contests as they look to maintain their hold on the lower chamber next year.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC)\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nrcc.org\/2023\/10\/20\/nrcc-announces-record-shattering-fundraising-haul\/\">announced a \u201crecord-shattering\u201d<\/a>\u00a0fundraising haul, with $18.5 million raised in the third quarter.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, the Democrats\u2019 House campaign arm\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/dccc.org\/dccc-crushes-nrcc-raises-26-million-in-third-quarter\/\">announced it pulled in $26 million<\/a>\u00a0in the third quarter, besting the NRCC by $7.5 million.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re certainly being incredibly competitive, and by all accounts keeping up with Republicans in certain races,\u201d Reinish said of Democrats in House contests.<\/p>\n<p>Strategists note it\u2019s early in the 2024 cycle to make predictions about Election Day performance based on the latest figures, but they said the numbers can indicate which candidates and races are gearing up to be the most competitive next year.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Democrats could do to be cautious about big hauls at this point in the race, some suggested, given that impressive numbers could spur competitors to get more aggressive or give candidates a false sense of security.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But overall, Democrats appear \u201cin a very good position from a fundraising perspective,\u201d said strategist Hank Sheinkopf.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the Democratic moment to raise money,\u201d said Sheinkopf. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He pointed to the chaos in the House as Republican lawmakers scramble to elect a Speaker \u2014 and to\u00a0lessening economic woes\u00a0at home while Biden\u00a0appears on the world stage.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf they can\u2019t raise the money now under these conditions, when are they going to raise the money?\u201d\u00a0he said of Democrats.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Copyright 2023 Nexstar <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Media<\/a> Inc.
