\n The Nets made a stunning decision on Thursday morning with the hiring of Steve Nash as their next head coach.<\/p>\n

Nash signed a four-year contract with the team, ESPN.com reported.<\/p>\n

The Hall of Fame point guard, who headlined the Suns\u2019 fast-paced attack in the 2000s, was working as a player development coach with the Warriors.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am honored to have this opportunity with such a first-class organization and would like to thank Sean, Joe and his wife, Clara, for having faith in my ability to lead this team forward,\u201d Nash said in a statement. \u201cCoaching is something I knew I wanted to pursue when the time was right, and I am humbled to be able to work with the outstanding group of players and staff we have here in Brooklyn. I am as excited about the prospects of the team on the court as I am about moving to Brooklyn with my family and becoming impactful members of this community.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Nets fired Kenny Atkinson in March with Jacque Vaughn taking over as interim coach in the NBA bubble. Nash, 46, is now charged with leading the Nets\u2019 super team of Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant, who will debut as a tandem next season after signing as free agents in July 2019.<\/p>\n

Durant missed the entire season rehabbing from a ruptured Achilles tendon.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
