Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) labeled the United Nations the \u201cmost antisemitic body on the planet,\u201d after the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">General<\/a> Assembly renewed its call for a cease-fire in the war between Israel and Palestinian militant group Hamas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet me just tell you about the U.N. right now,\u201d Graham said in a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/tv\/lindsey-graham-calls-the-u-n-the-most-anti-semitic-body-on-the-planet-after-general-assembly-votes-for-ceasefire-resolution\/\">Fox News interview Monday<\/a>. \u201cIt is the most antisemitic body on the planet.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cTo ask Israel to have a cease-fire after their people were slaughtered more viscously than the Nazis, having children beheaded, women raped in front of their parents \u2013 the U.N. is wrong,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The war began early this month after Hamas killed over 1,400 Israelis, mostly civilians, in a surprise attack. The group also took about 200 people hostage. <\/p>\n<p>Responding Israeli air strikes and a ground invasion have since killed at least 8,500 Palestinians, including over 3,500 children.<\/p>\n<p>The U.N. has been the strongest voice in favor of a cease-fire in the conflict with the goal of preventing further civilian casualties in Gaza. <\/p>\n<p>A resolution from the General Assembly calling for a cease-fire passed 120-14 with 45 abstentions. The U.S., however, voted against the measure.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHere is when we\u2019ll have a cease-fire: When Hamas ceases to be a threat to Israel,\u201d Graham continued. \u201cThen and only then will we have a cease-fire.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Graham implicitly linked the Hamas attacks to the Holocaust, the genocide which killed about 6 million Jews in World War II, a strategy also used by some Israeli leaders in drumming up support amid the conflic in the region.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. has backed Israel in the war, pledging billions in additional aid for the country. But, the Biden administration reportedly warned the Israeli military against a ground invasion of northern Gaza, which is controlled by Hamas, citing civilian casualty risks. <\/p>\n<p>Israel began its ground incursion overnight on Friday.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr3_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cIsrael, take all the time you need and do whatever it takes to destroy Hamas,\u201d Graham said, again dismissing a cease-fire. \u201cThat\u2019s non-negotiable for me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWeakness breeds more aggression,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, the head of the U.N. agency tasked with assisting Palestinians said \u201can im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>te humanitarian cease-fire has become a matter of life and death for millions,\u201d accusing Israel of \u201ccollective punishment\u201d and forced displacement of civilians.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr4_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called for a truce for weeks, arguing a halt in hostilities is needed in order to lessen what he described as a dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo ease epic suffering, make the delivery of aid easier and safer, and facilitate the release of hostages, I reiterate my <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>eal for an immediate humanitarian cease-fire,\u201d Guterres said in a U.N. speech last week.<\/p>\n<p>The U.N. chief also said that he was \u201cdeeply concerned\u201d about the \u201cclear violations of international humanitarian law\u201d in the conflict.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr5_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>A cease-fire in the conflict has also been a divisive issue in U.S. politics. Rep. Cori Bush (R-Mo.) led a group of nearly a dozen lawmakers, mostly progressive Democrats, in a resolution supporting a cease-fire earlier this month.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWar and retaliatory violence doesn\u2019t achieve accountability or justice; it only leads to more death and human suffering,\u201d Bush said in a statement introducing her resolution. \u201cThe United States bears a unique responsibility to exhaust every diplomatic tool at our disposal to prevent mass atrocities and save lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe can\u2019t bomb our way to peace, equality, and freedom,\u201d she continued. \u201cWith thousands of lives lost and millions more at stake, we need a ceasefire now.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Copyright 2023 Nexstar Media Inc.
