{"id":596289,"date":"2023-11-02T00:30:30","date_gmt":"2023-11-01T21:30:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/dmc-opens-up-about-contemplating-suicide-after-failed-surgery\/"},"modified":"2023-11-02T00:30:30","modified_gmt":"2023-11-01T21:30:30","slug":"dmc-opens-up-about-contemplating-suicide-after-failed-surgery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/dmc-opens-up-about-contemplating-suicide-after-failed-surgery\/","title":{"rendered":"#DMC Opens Up About Contemplating Suicide After Failed Surgery"},"content":{"rendered":"<div itemprop=\"articleBody\">DMC has opened up about his journey with alcoholism in a new conversation, revealing he once even got to a point of wanting to take his own life before getting sober.<\/p>\n<p>Both DMC and his Run-DMC partner Rev Run <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>eared on the second episode of Will Smith\u2019s <em>Class of \u201988<\/em> podcast, released on Wednesday (October 25). While discussing his battle, DMC revealed the pressure began when the group was evolving into the New Jack Swing era in the late \u201980s.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[The late Jam Master Jay] got me wearing a green, yellow, purple, and green suit doing the running man,\u201d he said. \u201cThere\u2019s nothing wrong with Jay bringing New Jack Swing into Run-DMC. It just wasn\u2019t for me, but I did it anyway, not realizing it was going to affect me mentally later.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As a result, he started drinking beer during the day and hard liquor at night \u2013 and his usage got so heavy, he started having vocal spasms. It got so bad that he needed surgery, and when that didn\u2019t work, it had him contemplating the worst.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter nothing worked, now I\u2019m thinking of killing myself,\u201d he said. \u201cBecause I\u2019m thinking, I can\u2019t do the thing that I was put here to do. So I don\u2019t want to disappoint Run and Jay, I don\u2019t want to go tell them I can\u2019t do this no more, so let me just kill myself. My life ended, so I thought, when the Run-DMC thing quieted down and I lost myself. So now, I\u2019m really gonna kill myself. I have to kill myself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He was eventually able to get on his feet and get sober and once again hit the stage and perform \u2014 listen to the full story below.<\/p>\n<p><iframe style=\"width:100%;max-width:660px;overflow:hidden;border-radius:10px\" src=\"https:\/\/embed.podcasts.apple.com\/gb\/podcast\/kings-of-rock\/id1708275587?i=1000631905805\" height=\"175\" frameborder=\"0\" sandbox=\"allow-forms allow-popups allow-same-origin allow-scripts allow-storage-access-by-user-activation allow-top-navigation-by-user-activation\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group may not be hitting the stage anymore, however, as they announced their retirement earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>In a January interview with <em>Rock the Bells<\/em>, Darryl \u201cDMC\u201d McDaniels revealed the iconic group would be closing the curtain on live performances with their last ever show at New York\u2019s Madison Square Garden this past spring.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRun-DMC is over,\u201d he said. \u201cThe only way Run-DMC gets back together is if The Beatles get back together. Can that happen?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe final show that we are ever going to do is going to be at Madison Square Garden in April,\u201d DMC continued. \u201cIt\u2019s going to be the last episode of the documentary we\u2019re doing. Run-DMC\u2019s last show ever. \u2018Cause it\u2019s time for Run to go be Paul McCartney and me to be John Lennon. We done did what we could do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe show is going to be like <em>The Last Waltz <\/em>by The Band,\u201d he added. \u201cWe\u2019re doing that movie idea. You\u2019ll see Ice-T come and do a song with us. You\u2019ll see Wu-Tang come do a song with us.
