Davis was represented by public defenders Robert Arroyo and Charles Cano, as reported by the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/tupac-killing-vegas-plea-keffe-davis-attorney-b3841deaaaf859dd717c5719d16749a5\"><i>Associated Press<\/i><\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>            For years prior to his arrest, Davis spoke openly and freely about his connection to the death of Shakur. Davis <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.laweekly.com\/the-keffe-d-tapes-10-highlights-of-confession-from-gangster-who-says-sean-combs-hired-him-to-kill-tupac\/\">told a detective in 2009<\/a> that he was in the vehicle that fired at Shakur&#8217;s on the Las Vegas s<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trip<\/a> on September 7, 1996, claiming that his nephew Orlando Anderson was the gunman. Anderson was shot to death nine months after Shakur&#8217;s killing; the other two men in the vehicle, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/music\/2023\/aug\/06\/who-murdered-tupac-shakur-william-shaw-keefe-d-nevada-raid\">Deandrae Smith<\/a> and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/homicide.latimes.com\/post\/terrence-brown\/\">Terrence Brown<\/a>, have also since passed away. Davis is the first person charged with Tupac&#8217;s case since the case was opened decades ago.<\/p>\n<p>            Davis was less definitive when he spoke about the killing for <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=7PvUg5EtcBs&amp;pp=ygUmZGVhdGggcm93IGNocm9uaWNsZXMgZXBpc29kZSA1IGtlZWZlIGQ%3D\">an episode of BET\u2019s <i>Death Row Chronicles<\/i><\/a>. \u201cIt just came from the back seat, bro,\u201d Davis said when an interviewer asked him who shot Tupac. Davis further discussed his role in Tupac&#8217;s death during <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/43oKS6aXh3E\">a widely-viewed interview with DJ Vlad<\/a>, and in his 2019 memoir <i>Compton Street Legend<\/i>.  <\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>            The state of Nevada is reportedly not seeking the death penalty against Davis, though he does face a maximum sentence of life in prison.
