The resulting meteor showers occur when Earth travels through a cloud of comet debris.<\/p>\n<p>Astronomers believe the meteors produced by both Taurid streams are debris left behind by <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/science.nasa.gov\/solar-system\/comets\/2p-encke\/\">Encke\u2019s comet<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While Encke&#8217;s comet was discovered in 1786 by French astronomer Pierre F. A.
