{"id":596828,"date":"2023-11-06T23:21:35","date_gmt":"2023-11-06T20:21:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/scalise-grateful-for-his-health-this-thanksgiving\/"},"modified":"2023-11-06T23:21:35","modified_gmt":"2023-11-06T20:21:35","slug":"scalise-grateful-for-his-health-this-thanksgiving","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/scalise-grateful-for-his-health-this-thanksgiving\/","title":{"rendered":"#Scalise grateful for his health this Thanksgiving"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/10\/scalisesteve_101223gn11_w.jpg?w=900\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) says he\u2019s grateful for his health this Thanksgiving, three months after announcing that he had been diagnosed with multiple myeloma.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m thankful for my health, and just the love and support from family and friends,\u201d Scalise\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.siriusxm.com\/clips\/clip\/fb85ad68-4f10-4ec5-8eaa-4bcadea02446\/954d0d6c-cf23-49df-bc26-90e401fb822a\">said Monday<\/a>\u00a0on SiriusXM\u2019s \u201cThe Julie Mason Show.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m feeling great. I\u2019m in the last few weeks of chemotherapy treatment,\u201d Scalise said. The 58-year-old lawmaker\u00a0said in August\u00a0that he had been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a blood cancer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey caught me early \u2014 early detection\u2019s key,\u201d Scalise said of his diagnosis. \u201cFor anybody that\u2019s feeling something wrong with their system \u2014 there was something wrong with me, and my doctors figured it out. They detected cancer and they got me on an aggressive chemotherapy early.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m about three months in, and at the end of the three months hopefully they say I won\u2019t need to take the chemo anymore because the cancer will be just about all knocked out,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Scalise, who\u00a0ended his bid\u00a0to be House Speaker last month, said he\u2019s looking forward to a Cajun-seasoned,\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.siriusxm.com\/clips\/clip\/fb85ad68-4f10-4ec5-8eaa-4bcadea02446\/e72587d2-3d3d-496e-a581-3af73f65a8c8\">deep-fried turkey<\/a>\u00a0on Thanksgiving \u2014 and also expects a side of politics at his dinner table.<\/p>\n<p>Asked by host Julie Mason if he had a \u201ccrazy liberal cousin who likes to tweak\u201d him, Scalise\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.siriusxm.com\/clips\/clip\/fb85ad68-4f10-4ec5-8eaa-4bcadea02446\/9c77bbd9-ce93-4cc8-9e15-cf413cf64276\">replied with a laugh<\/a>, \u201cWe have one, but you know we have fun with him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are actually really good about the politics.
