When you think you\u2019re going to come into the United States with your family, you come. And we did for a period of time family separation and others have, too, by the way,\u201d Trump said in an interview with Univision.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cBut, you know, it\u2019s a little bit different with us. But we did family separation,\u201d Trump continued. \u201cA lot of people didn\u2019t come. It stopped people from coming by the hundreds of thousands because when they hear family separation, they say well, we better not go. And they didn\u2019t go.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump repeated his assertion that family separation was a practice first implemented during the Obama administration, though multiple fact-checkers have <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/storyline\/immigration-border-crisis\/fact-check-did-obama-administration-separate-families-n884856\">previously<\/a> <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/newshour\/politics\/ap-fact-check-obama-didnt-have-a-family-separation-policy\">debunked<\/a> that claim.<\/p>\n<p>The Trump administration in 2018 implemented a \u201czero tolerance\u201d policy for those who crossed the southern border illegally, meaning that hundreds of migrant children were separated from their parents, who were taken to court for criminal proceedings.<\/p>\n<p>Trump eventually ended the zero-tolerance policy in the face of backlash from human rights groups and lawmakers in both parties.<\/p>\n<p>The Biden administration has worked to reunite families that were separated during the previous administration\u2019s \u201czero tolerance\u201d policy. Officials have said they have united hundreds of children with their families, though nearly 1,000 children still remain separated from their families.<\/p>\n<p>Trump has repeatedly hammered the Biden administration for its border policies, pointing to large increases in the numbers of migrants crossing the southern border. <\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Trump has said if reelected he would reimpose an expanded version of a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a> ban and seek to instate ideological screenings to determine who would be allowed into the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>In a campaign video\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.donaldjtrump.com\/agenda47\/president-donald-j-trump-declares-war-on-cartels\">published in January<\/a>, Trump laid out his plan to crack down on the cartels, saying he would order the Pentagon to use \u201cspecial forces, cyber warfare, and other overt and covert actions to inflict maximum damage on cartel leadership, infrastructure and operations\u201d if needed to fight the cartels, which he also pledged to designate as foreign terrorist groups.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDonald Trump doesn\u2019t care about \u2018securing the border\u2019 \u2013 he only cares about himself, which means using immigrants and the border to score political points,\u201d Kevin Munoz, a Biden campaign spokesperson, said in a statement. \u201cThe only legacy Donald Trump left was vulnerable families separated and more divisive immigration policies \u2013 all the while failing to stem the flow of fentanyl into our country.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Copyright 2023 Nexstar <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Media<\/a> Inc.
