\n The reset button on John Mara\u2019s desk needs some time off.<\/p>\n

So, the Giants co-owner isn\u2019t going to pin general<\/a> manager Dave Gettleman\u2019s job security entering his third season to a certain number of victories, a playoff spot or an NFC East division title.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s certainly what our goal is and I\u2019ll be very disapp<\/a>ointed if we are not in that situation,\u201d Mara told reporters Thursday in his first remarks since January. \u201cBut I can\u2019t sit here and say, \u2018We have to win a certain number of game<\/a>s otherwise I\u2019m going to blow the whole thing up again.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

The Giants have the fewest wins in the NFL over the last three seasons (12) and Joe Judge is their fourth head coach in the last six seasons. The roster is one of the youngest in the league \u2014 a sign of a fresh start even though there have been no playoff wins since Super Bowl XLVI in February 2012.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel good about the direction that we\u2019re headed in right now and I want to feel that way in January as well \u2013 and I have reason to expect that I will,\u201d Mara said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to feel like when we walk off the field after the last game, whenever that is, that we have the pieces in place to compete for a Super Bowl and that the combination of people we have here is going to work going forward.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mara said his thoughts are in agreement with co-owner Steve Tisch.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need to feel like we\u2019re building something that is going to compete for a championship,\u201d Mara said. \u201cIf we are able to play meaningful games in December, that would be a sign that we are doing that.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
