{"id":597486,"date":"2023-11-12T21:04:34","date_gmt":"2023-11-12T18:04:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/sullivan-says-9-u-s-citizens-1-green-card-holder-missing-after-hamas-attack\/"},"modified":"2023-11-12T21:04:34","modified_gmt":"2023-11-12T18:04:34","slug":"sullivan-says-9-u-s-citizens-1-green-card-holder-missing-after-hamas-attack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/sullivan-says-9-u-s-citizens-1-green-card-holder-missing-after-hamas-attack\/","title":{"rendered":"#Sullivan says 9 U.S. citizens, 1 green card holder missing after Hamas attack"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/07\/sullivanjake_070723gn03_w.jpg?w=900\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said on Sunday that nine Americans and one green card holder were still unaccounted for following the Hamas attack on Israel on Oct. 7.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview on CNN\u2019s \u201cState of the Union,\u201d Sullivan said U.S. officials did not know whether those ten people were still alive, but that \u201cactive, intensive negotiations\u201d were underway to secure the release of all hostages.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cWe currently have nine Americans who are missing, one green-card holder who is missing. We don\u2019t know the status \u2013 whether they are alive or whether they have passed away \u2013 but we are looking to get the safe recovery of all of those individuals,\u201d Sullivan told CNN\u2019s Dana Bash.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd we\u2019re staying in close touch with their families. In fact, I will be meeting with the families of the American hostages this week,\u201d Sullivan added.<\/p>\n<p>Sullivan would not say whether officials were close to reaching a deal for the hostages, which total about 240 people taken from Israel, but he said the United States was involved in negotiations, which also included Qatar and Egypt.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t want to predict how close we are because I have thought we have been close before, and we haven\u2019t quite gotten there,\u201d Sullivan said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat I can say is, there are active, intensive negotiations underway involving Israel, Qatar. The United States is engaged in those negotiations. Egypt and other countries are also engaged,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd the goal here is to do what is necessary at the negotiating table to ensure that we get the safe return of all of the hostages, including the Americans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sullivan\u2019s comments come more than a month after Hamas launched a brutal surprise attack on Israel\u2019s southern border, killing about 1,200 Israelis.
