{"id":597506,"date":"2023-11-13T02:34:59","date_gmt":"2023-11-12T23:34:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/mccarthy-says-jeffries-hasnt-spoken-to-him-since-ouster-as-speaker\/"},"modified":"2023-11-13T02:34:59","modified_gmt":"2023-11-12T23:34:59","slug":"mccarthy-says-jeffries-hasnt-spoken-to-him-since-ouster-as-speaker","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/mccarthy-says-jeffries-hasnt-spoken-to-him-since-ouster-as-speaker\/","title":{"rendered":"#McCarthy says Jeffries hasn\u2019t spoken to him since ouster as Speaker"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/11\/GettyImages-1454757739-e1699833073390.jpg?w=900\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) said Sunday that Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) hasn\u2019t spoken to him since he was ousted from the top leadership post despite the two having had a good working relationship beforehand.<\/p>\n<p>During an <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>earance on CNN\u2019s \u201cInside Politics Sunday,\u201d anchor Manu Raju asked McCarthy if he still has a good relationship with Jeffries after the New York lawmaker, along with every other House Democrat, voted to remove McCarthy from his position.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cNo, he hasn\u2019t talked to me since then,\u201d McCarthy told Raju.\u00a0\u201cLook, at the end of the day, the Democrats decided to make a political decision.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>McCarthy\u2019s ouster came after he worked with those same Democrats to bring a government funding bill to the floor hours before a shutdown would have taken effect. <\/p>\n<p>The historic vote was brought on by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), as he and seven other Republican lawmakers joined their Democratic colleagues in a 216-210 vote to remove McCarthy from his leadership position.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Besides Gaetz, the other seven GOP lawmakers who voted against McCarthy are Reps. Andy Biggs (Ariz.), Ken Buck (Colo.), Tim Burchett (Tenn.), Eli Crane (Ariz.), Bob Good (Va.), Nancy Mace (S.C.) and Matt Rosendale (Mont.).<\/p>\n<p>McCarthy also expressed his frustration with how his eventual ouster played out within his own political party. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, just from a serious point of understanding governing, look, I\u2019m a conservative who loves to govern. I don\u2019t believe them to be conservatives. I just \u2014 there\u2019s a different rationale,\u201d McCarthy said.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s driven by Gaetz \u2026 based upon an ethics complaint that happened in the last Congress. He would throw his country away to try to protect himself from what would come out as the truth.
