\n Parents are getting a hard, and at times comical, lesson in virtual reality as their kids crack open their computers and head back to school \u2014 via Zoom.<\/p>\n

Anecdotes ranging from endearing to embarrassing are blowing up Twitter<\/a> from moms and dads just trying to navigate the new normal of the new school year.<\/p>\n

\u201cZoom preschool is both hilarious and depressing. My 4 year old keeps unmuting himself and yelling \u2018I DON\u2019T KNOW YOUR NAME! IS THIS MEETING OVER YET?’\u201d tweeted Washington Post reporter Alexis Diao, whose post received more than 690 replies of the like.<\/p>\n

The handle @realsnacktime shared another sophomoric snafu.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy seven year old\u2019s teacher lost her connection and a random kid was promoted to host,\u201d the tweet said. \u201cTeacher logged back on, but he didn\u2019t give host back; he muted her and made farting noises for five minutes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Many school districts, including New York City, have implemented a hybrid learning model \u2014 a mix of remote learning and in-person instruction \u2014 while others have opted to go all-remote as the country awaits a coronavirus vaccine.<\/p>\n

Some parents are reporting that their cunning kids are already using technical problems \u2014 real or not \u2014 to their advantage.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy second grader will unmute herself and say her computer is \u2018glitching\u2019 so she has to restart it and will leave the meeting for a few minutes to get a snack,\u201d tweeted Vanessa Salazar. \u201cI still haven\u2019t figured out if I\u2019m proud of her or not.\u201d<\/p>\n

Keith Edwards added, \u201cZoom 2nd grade is fun. When my son gets bored he just closes the laptop and walks away. \u2018Technical issues!\u2019 He yells.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, some parents have found themselves on the wrong end of the Zoom conference.<\/p>\n

\u201cKindergarten zoom gym class punctuated by a parent saying \u2018I\u2019m just OVER IT\u2019 loudly over and over again and then \u2018Oh, are you unmuted?’\u201d one person with the handle @dansinker tweeted.<\/p>\n

One teacher shared the best moment so far from her virtual classroom.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think my favorite was when a 4-year-old demonstrated, with great gusto, the \u2018dance daddy does when he gets out of the shower,’\u201d she wrote. \u201cHard to put that out of your mind at parent-teacher conference!\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
