Still from <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=uybR4M-9sL0\">Law&amp;Crime Network\u2019s YouTube live stream of the hearing<\/a>.<br \/>\n    <\/span><\/p>\n<p>  <span class=\"credit\"><br \/>\n      \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<style>\n<\/style>\n<div id=\"content_block-257164\" class=\"content_block paragraph text triple_gutter_right triple_gutter_left center_align\">\n<div class=\"content_inner_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"paragraph_wrapper center_align\">\n<p>            Broward Circuit Court Judge John Murphy has granted a request from YNW Melly\u2019s prosecutors for extra time to prepare for the Florida r<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>er\u2019s double murder retrial, pushing opening arguments back to February 5, 2024, the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.miamiherald.com\/news\/local\/crime\/article281840618.html\"><i>Miami Herald<\/i> reports<\/a>. <\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>            In a motion reviewed by the <i>Herald<\/i>, Assistant State Attorneys Alixandra Buckelew, Taylor Collins, and Justin Griffis argued that recent developments in the case \u2014 including the recusal of its former lead prosecutor, Kristine Bradley, and new witness tampering charges filed against Melly and his co-defendant, YNW Bortlen \u2014 will add more work than anticipated to their preparation process.<\/p>\n<p>            Judge Murphy\u2019s ruling comes after he dismissed an entire pool of prospective jurors last week, following a complaint by the state alleging the defense had misstated the law to the panel. In a filing <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/art19.com\/shows\/law-crime-sidebar\/episodes\/3d830799-2e12-4685-8339-6a097dedb79b\">obtained by Law &amp; Crime<\/a>, they claimed Melly\u2019s team had told the would-be jurors that in order to prove him guilty of murder, the prosecution would also need to show that he was in a gang. Indeed, Melly\u2019s indictment contains a gang enhancement, but a jury could find him guilty with or without proof of his alleged gang membership. Per the <i>Herald<\/i>, the second crop of potential jurors will return for questioning in December.<\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>            Originally <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.xxlmag.com\/ynw-melly-second-double-murder-trial-date-set\/\">scheduled to begin on October 9<\/a>, Melly\u2019s trial has been held up by motions from both sides, though the bulk of pending paperwork has come from the defense.
