Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) suggested Wednesday that he is \u201cconsidering\u201d leaving the Democratic party in comments made just one week after he announced that he would not seek reelection to the Senate.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>During an interview on CNN, anchor Kaitlan Collins pressed the West Virginia senator on whether he was thinking about leaving the party after expressing disdain for what he called the \u201cbusiness of politics.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cThe business of politics has gotten so big because the business model is a Democrat business and a Republican business and it\u2019s really forgotten about the people to a certain extent,\u201d Manchin said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll they want is 51 or greater to be the majority and then they do so much damage trying to get there,\u201d he continued. <\/p>\n<p>When first asked if was going to leave the Democratic party, Manchin stressed that he has always been an \u201cindependent\u201d thinker and voter over the course of an almost 40-year-long political career.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve never considered myself a Washington Democrat,\u201d Manchin said. \u201cI\u2019ve been a very independent person.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The West Virginia Senator then acknowledged Collin\u2019s initial inquiry, saying \u201cI know what you\u2019re saying, but we\u2019ll see, I haven\u2019t gotten there yet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He went on to admit that leaving the party was something that \u201cyou always consider.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m sure they\u2019d be h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>y\u2014 they might throw me out so who knows, they might do me a favor, I don\u2019t know,\u201d Manchin said.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Manchin, who held his seat since 2010, had long been considered the most vulnerable Senate Democrat ahead of the 2024 presidential election with the senator\u2019s decision not to launch a campaign solidifying Democratic fears that the seat will almost certainly be won by Republicans in next year\u2019s election.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Senate Democratic campaign arm maintains that it still has ways to keep control of the chamber.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr3_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cDemocrats have multiple pathways to protect and strengthen our Senate majority and are in a strong position to achieve this goal,\u201d David Bergstein, a Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee spokesman, said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Despite his recent announcement, Manchin hasn\u2019t ruled out a possible presidential run, telling NBC\u2019s \u201cMeet the Press\u201d host Kristen Welker on Wednesday that it was something he was \u201cabsolutely\u201d considering.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Copyright 2023 Nexstar <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Media<\/a> Inc.
