{"id":597956,"date":"2023-11-17T04:44:19","date_gmt":"2023-11-17T01:44:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/netanyahu-closer-to-hostage-release-than-before-ground-operation\/"},"modified":"2023-11-17T04:44:19","modified_gmt":"2023-11-17T01:44:19","slug":"netanyahu-closer-to-hostage-release-than-before-ground-operation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/netanyahu-closer-to-hostage-release-than-before-ground-operation\/","title":{"rendered":"#Netanyahu: Closer to hostage release than before ground operation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/07\/64c7e6adcae728.28938235-e1694720542930.jpeg?w=900\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel is closer to releasing hostages captured by the Palestinian militant group Hamas than before their ground operation in Gaza.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, we\u2019re closer than we were before we began the ground action, because the ground action has put pressure on Hamas to achieve a cease-fire,\u201d Netanyahu <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/cbseveningnews\/status\/1725309406265413906?s=61&amp;t=hFe4Ezh8Ddbzxr2MOTT93g\">told<\/a> CBS anchor Norah O\u2019Donnell on Thursday.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ll have a temporary cease-fire if we can get our hostages back,\u201d Netanyahu added. \u201cI don\u2019t think it serves that purpose, for me to elaborate further on that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Israel began its ground invasion into Gaza last month in its ongoing conflict with Hamas that began in early October with an attack on Israel by the militant group in which about 239 hostages were taken. The attack also left 1,200 Israelis dead.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A military response from Israel to the Hamas attack has also resulted in the deaths of over 11,200 Palestinians, including thousands of women and children, according to the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, White House national security spokesperson John Kirby said that the U.S. is involved in \u201cintense negotiations\u201d on trying to get the hostages taken by Hamas released.
