Lupe Fiasco has dropped off a Thanksgiving gift for fans, making good on his promise to rap over the flute beats from Andr\u00e9 3000\u2018s new album.<\/p>\n

Taking to Twitter<\/a>\/X on Wednesday (November 22), the Chicago wordsmith posted a clip rapp<\/a>ing over New Blue Sun<\/em> cut, \u201cI Really Wanted To Make A Rap Album, But This Is Literally The Way The Wind Blew Me This Time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI prefer Kintsugi pottery over pristine, perfectly-weaved sophistry\/ I\u2019m bodhisattva possibly \u2019cause being bothered don\u2019t even bother me\/ But not a Buddha \u2019cause I ain\u2019t got the modesty\/ What you miss mentally is how much I catch bodily<\/em>,\u201d he effortlessly spits.<\/p>\n

Accompanied with the audio is a photo of Lupe and the late Virgil Abloh. \u201cHe showing me the custom case he made for 3 Stacks flute,\u201d Lupe explains in the caption.<\/p>\n

The legendary OutKast lyricist stunned fans last week by announcing his long-awaited solo album New Blue Sun<\/em>, which dropped on Friday (November 17).<\/p>\n

Despite his status as one of the most gifted rappers of all time \u2014 who, judging by his series<\/a> of show-stealing guest verses, has still got it \u2014 the project features zero rapping or singing.<\/p>\n

Instead, it\u2019s described as a \u201cstunning\u201d and \u201cexperimental\u201d instrumental record that showcases 3 Stacks\u2019 skills on the flute, the instrument he\u2019s often seen playing during rare (and random) public appearances.<\/p>\n

The news<\/a> has been met with mixed reactions from rap heads who have been waiting almost two decades for a full-length solo offering from Andr\u00e9 Benjamin, and were hoping for the kind of dazzling displays of lyrical dexterity he\u2019s famous for.<\/p>\n

But fans\u2019 disappointment might be tempered by the plans of fellow rhyme virtuoso, Lupe Fiasco.<\/p>\n

\u201cGonna rap all over that 3stacks album and put it in the time capsule for future generations,\u201d he wrote on X (formerly Twitter) days before the album\u2019s release.<\/p>\n

His post was accompanied by a video of a dance troupe performing an elaborate routine to Michael Jackson\u2018s \u201cBillie Jean,\u201d a hint at the lyrical acrobatics to come.<\/p>\n

The Chicago native is no stranger to applying his pen to eclectic sonic canvases. Outside of the Kanye West, Neptunes and Soundtrakk beats that have graced his studio albums, Lupe has rapped over music from Robert Glasper (\u201cValleys\u201d), Radiohead (\u201cThe National Anthem\u201d) and John Coltrane (\u201cLife, Death & Love From San Francisco\u201d).<\/p>\n

Unlike Andr\u00e9 3000, Lupe Fiasco hasn\u2019t made plans to release a new album anytime soon, but he has kept his loyal fanbase fed this year with several loosies, including \u201cSentRock,\u201d\u201cRoc-A-Fella Y\u2019all\u201d and \u201cChannel No. 3.\u201d<\/p>\n

His last full-length project, Drill Music In Zion<\/em>, arrived last year and was named one of the best rap albums of the year by HipHopDX<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
