{"id":598729,"date":"2023-11-24T01:23:29","date_gmt":"2023-11-23T22:23:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/who-asks-for-information-about-spike-in-respiratory-illnesses-in-china\/"},"modified":"2023-11-24T01:23:29","modified_gmt":"2023-11-23T22:23:29","slug":"who-asks-for-information-about-spike-in-respiratory-illnesses-in-china","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/who-asks-for-information-about-spike-in-respiratory-illnesses-in-china\/","title":{"rendered":"#WHO asks for information about spike in respiratory illnesses in China"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/11\/WHO_WorldHealthOrganization.jpeg?w=900\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The World Health Organization (WHO) has requested information from China about an increase in respiratory illnesses in children.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/news\/item\/22-11-2023-who-statement-on-reported-clusters-of-respiratory-illness-in-children-in-northern-china\">In a <\/a><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/news\/item\/22-11-2023-who-statement-on-reported-clusters-of-respiratory-illness-in-children-in-northern-china\">Thursday<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> release, the health agency said Chinese health officials reported an increase in respiratory illnesses and reported clusters of pneumonia in kids earlier this month.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Health officials attributed this increase to the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions and the circulation of known pathogens, such as influenza, mycoplasma pneumoniae, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>Mycoplasma pneumoniae is a common bacterial infection that typically affects younger children, the news release said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn 22 November, WHO requested additional epidemiologic and clinical information, as well as laboratory results from these reported clusters among children, through the International Health Regulations mechanism,\u201d the health agency said in its news releasew. \u201cWe have also requested further information about recent trends in the circulation of known pathogens including influenza, SARS-CoV-2, RSV and mycoplasma pneumoniae, and the current burden on health care systems.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>China\u2019s National Health Commission said Thursday that children experiencing mild symptoms should visit primary health care institutions or <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a> hospital pediatrics departments first because larger hospitals may be crowded and have long waiting times, according to The Associated Press.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to Chinese state <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>, the average number of patients in the internal medicine department at Beijing Children\u2019s Hospital topped 7,000 per day, a number that exceeds the hospital\u2019s capacity.<\/p>\n<p>WHO also said it plans to be in contact with clinicians and scientists through its existing\u00a0technical partnerships and networks in China, recommending Chinese officials to follow measures to reduce the risk of respiratory illness.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cWhile WHO seeks this additional information, we recommend that people in China follow measures to reduce the risk of respiratory illness, which include recommended vaccination; keeping distance from people who are ill; staying home when ill; getting tested and medical care as needed; wearing masks as <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ropriate; ensuring good ventilation; and regular hand-washing,\u201d the news release noted. \u201cWHO will continue to provide updates.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Copyright 2023 Nexstar Media Inc.
