Much like its preliminary process, the trial\u2019s opening statements got off to a rocky start, with multiple interruptions along the way.<\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>            Fulton County Chief Deputy District Attorney Adriane Love began her remarks with a quote from \u201c<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kiplingsociety.co.uk\/poem\/poems_lawofjungle.htm\">The Law of the Jungle<\/a>,\u201d a poem from Rudyard Kipling\u2019s <i>The Jungle Book<\/i>, introducing a metaphor for the YSL crew as a \u201cpack\u201d and Young Thug, its alleged leader, as a \u201cwolf.\u201d But before she could cap off the comparison with the poem\u2019s concluding stanza, objections from the defense began rolling in.<\/p>\n<p>            Chief among them was a motion for mistrial by Young Thug\u2019s attorney Brian Steel, based on the claim that Love had shown jurors evidence that presiding judge Ural Glanville had explicitly excluded from the case, as well as information that had not been properly presented to the defense before the hearing. Judge Glanville called for the jury to leave the courtroom briefly but ended up keeping them out for more than an hour while he heard more rigorous objections from Steel and other defense attorneys to Love\u2019s opening presentation. He ultimately denied Steel\u2019s motion but admonished Love for her failure to follow court procedure. <\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>            Elsewhere, Love was met with objections for \u201cburden shifting\u201d \u2014 placing the burden of proof on the defense when it in fact lies with the prosecution \u2014 and with arguing outside the limits of an opening statement, where arguments can only be presented in a specific format (i.e \u201cthe evidence will show\u201d).<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<style>\n<\/style>\n<div id=\"content_block-257626\" class=\"content_block paragraph video triple_gutter_right triple_gutter_left center_align\">\n<div class=\"content_inner_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"media_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"video_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"fluid-width-video-wrapper\" style=\"padding-top: 56.25%;\">\n<p>    <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"WATCH LIVE: Young Thug, YSL RICO Trial \u2014 GA v. Speaking to the jury, however, she made the distinction that her office \u2014 and the Fulton County Sheriff\u2019s Department, in their investigation \u2014 had first \u201cchased the murders, as the evidence will show, and in the process\u2026 just found the lyrics.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>            The hearing continued following Love\u2019s opening statement, with Judge Glanville giving defense attorneys the opportunity to enter opening statements of their own.
