\n Denmark and Spain\u2019s International Oscar contenders The Promised Land<\/em> and The Society of the Snow<\/em> topped the winners\u2019 list for this year\u2019s EFA\u2019s Excellence Awards, the craft section of the European Film Awards, which are announced ahead of next week\u2019s European Film Awards. <\/p>\n

\n The Promised Land<\/em>, Nikolaj Arcel 18th century Danish Western starring Mads Mikkelsen, took two excellence honors: Best cinematography for Rasmus Videbaek and best costume design for Kicki Ilander. <\/p>\n

\n J.A. Bayona<\/em>\u2018s Society of the Snow<\/em>, a Netflix-backed thriller based on the real-life events of the Chilean rugby team that crashed in the Andes in 1972, and was forced to go to extremes to survive, also took two trophies, including best visual effects for F\u00e9lix Berg\u00e9s and Laura Pedrobest and best hair and make-up for Ana L\u00f3pez-Puigcerver, Bel\u00e9n L\u00f3pez-Puigcerver, David Mart\u00ed and Montse Rib\u00e9. <\/p>\n

\n Jonathan Glazer\u2019s Holocaust drama The Zone of Interest<\/em> and Justine Triet\u2019s French court drama Anatomy of a Fall<\/em>, both award-season favorites, were also honored. Johnnie Burn and Tarn Willers took the EFA excellence award for best sound design on Zone of Interest <\/em>and Laurent S\u00e9n\u00e9chal the best editing prize for his work on Anatomy of a Fall<\/em>. <\/p>\n

\n Alice Rohrwacher\u2019s Italian drama La Chimera<\/em>, which stars Josh O\u2019Connor as a black market tomb raider, won the EFA for best production design for Emita Frigato. Markus Binder won best score for his subtly disturbing percussive soundtrack to Jessica Hausner\u2019s health cult satire Club Zero<\/em> <\/em>starring Mia Wasikowska. <\/p>\n

\n The EFA excellence winners will receive their awards at the main European Film Awards gala in Berlin on December 9. <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
