{"id":599478,"date":"2023-11-30T14:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-11-30T11:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/biden-campaign-gets-much-needed-jolt-amid-trumps-obamacare-threats\/"},"modified":"2023-11-30T14:00:00","modified_gmt":"2023-11-30T11:00:00","slug":"biden-campaign-gets-much-needed-jolt-amid-trumps-obamacare-threats","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/biden-campaign-gets-much-needed-jolt-amid-trumps-obamacare-threats\/","title":{"rendered":"#Biden campaign gets much-needed jolt amid Trump\u2019s ObamaCare threats"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/11\/AP23333664895654-e1701284583415.jpg?w=900\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>President Biden\u2019s campaign was given a much-needed shot in the arm this week from former President Trump\u2019s repeated threats against ObamaCare.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Trump handed Democrats a gift when he suddenly revived threats to replace the 13-year-old Affordable Care Act if elected president, giving the Biden campaign a week\u2019s worth of material as it shifts to attack the GOP front-runner directly.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>When Trump posted on his <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social media<\/a> platform that he was \u201cseriously looking at alternatives\u201d to the law and that the failure to repeal it while he was in the White House in 2017 was \u201ca low point for the Republican Party,\u201d the Biden campaign jumped into action.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A campaign source told The Hill that they quickly made the decision to \u201cjuice it out as much as we possibly can.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The campaign has gone provision by provision this week to highlight the most popular parts of ObamaCare, reminding voters what would be at stake should the law be changed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrump certainly gave us sufficient time to plan and make this a weeklong endeavor,\u201d the source said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, the campaign argued that a second Trump presidency could s<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trip<\/a> insurance from up to 135 million Americans with preexisting conditions.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And on Wednesday, the Biden campaign underscored that nixing ObamaCare would mean Americans under the age of 26 would be kicked off their parents\u2019 insurance plans, warning that could lead to \u201cfinancial ruin for a whole generation of young, uninsured Americans.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>On Thursday, they plan to focus on the impact repealing ObamaCare would have on Black and brown communities, according to a source familiar with the matter.<\/p>\n<p>The much-needed jolt for the Biden campaign came amidst months of dismal <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roval ratings for the president as well as some recent surveys in which he polled behind Trump, though within the margin of error. But that was especially problematic when a poll in key swing states needed to notch the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a> election showed that Trump led Biden in five out of six of them.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Biden campaign, in focusing its effort in such swing states, is running health care-centered TV ads this week as part of an effort to draw more attention to Trump\u2019s claim and highlight the president\u2019s health accomplishments, a campaign staffer said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr3_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cDonald Trump just can\u2019t help himself and continues to remind people just how awful he is on the issues that matter to everyday Americans. And him saying he wants to repeal ObamaCare is another thing we\u2019re all over right now,\u201d a Biden campaign aide told The Hill.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Dean Rosen, a Republican lobbyist and former chief health care adviser to former Sen. Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.), suggested Trump and other GOP candidates move on from the matter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHistory has not been kind to politicians who have tried to radically remake the health system or take away people\u2019s coverage \u2014 no matter how imperfect,\u201d Rosen said. \u201cUnless and until the GOP coalesces around a workable and politically popular alternative, presidential candidates would be wise to focus on reducing costs and increasing access to doctors, nurses and health care services especially in rural and underserved areas.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr4_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Despite such warnings, Trump has doubled down on restarting the ObamaCare fight by proclaiming he would replace the law with something \u201cmuch better.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObamacare Sucks!!!\u201d he wrote on Truth Social.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While on the campaign trail this week, Biden made it a point to bring up Trump\u2019s comments.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr5_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cDonald Trump announced his latest idea to his campaign. I hope you didn\u2019t miss it \u2026 he wants to get rid of the Affordable Care Act,\u201d Biden said Tuesday at a fundraiser in Colorado. \u201cIf Trump gets his way \u2014 it\u2019s all gone.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Biden has increasingly attacked Trump directly through his campaign, though he\u2019s careful not to name Trump when he\u2019s giving public remarks as president, referring to Trump instead as his predecessor.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The campaign is also enlisting high-profile surrogates to aid in its refocus.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr6_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper (D) in a Biden campaign call cast a second Trump presidency as a dire threat to Americans\u2019 health.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen he says he\u2019s going after our health care, believe him,\u201d Pelosi told reporters. \u201cLet me be clear that in 2024, the Affordable Care Act and all of its transformational benefits will be on the ballot. The American people will need to know that if Donald Trump wins next year, he\u2019s coming for your health care.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Cooper noted that the stakes for voters are clear.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr7_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cHealth care is a great opportunity to compare the best of Biden to the worst of Trump,\u201d Cooper said. \u201cHealth care is an area where President Biden has been shining and Trump is going to hurt millions of Americans if he\u2019s successful in this spirit.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In 2017, Republicans failed to repeal ObamaCare despite their control of Congress and the White House at the time largely because they couldn\u2019t agree on a viable alternative.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Democrats retook control of the House in 2018 after making the GOP repeal efforts the center of their campaigns, promising to protect Americans from losing coverage for preexisting conditions.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Political strategists said relitigating the repeal-and-replace fight has no upside for Republicans.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRepublicans, you know, they\u2019ve got to figure out what\u2019s their message and then deliver it consistently. And I don\u2019t think the message is, \u2018We ought to go repeal ObamaCare,\u2019\u201d said Joel White, a GOP health strategist.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Thirteen years after its passage, ObamaCare is more popular than in 2017, with a sprawling reach that goes beyond the U.S. health system. It mandates birth control coverage, free preventive care and even requires many chain restaurants to post the calories of menu items.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Close to 60 percent of adults now have a favorable opinion of the law, according to a KFF tracking poll from May.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt seems retro to have an ObamaCare fight, but the Biden campaign is right to jump on this.
