{"id":599542,"date":"2023-12-01T05:49:39","date_gmt":"2023-12-01T02:49:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/pentagon-says-osprey-crew-still-missing-after-japan-crash\/"},"modified":"2023-12-01T05:49:39","modified_gmt":"2023-12-01T02:49:39","slug":"pentagon-says-osprey-crew-still-missing-after-japan-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/pentagon-says-osprey-crew-still-missing-after-japan-crash\/","title":{"rendered":"#Pentagon says Osprey crew still missing after Japan crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/08\/64eb5c047cafb8.65078605.jpeg?w=900\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The eight men aboard an Air Force CV-22B Osprey that crashed off the shore of Yakushima, Japan, are still missing, the Pentagon said Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>According to Japanese coast guard officials, a U.S. Osprey military aircraft crashed near the island of Yakushima on Wednesday afternoon, killing at least one crew member and prompting a large rescue operation.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Defense spokesperson Sabrina Singh <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.defense.gov\/News\/Transcripts\/Transcript\/Article\/3603079\/deputy-pentagon-press-secretary-ms-sabrina-singh-holds-a-press-briefing\/\">confirmed Thursday<\/a> the crash h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ened while the aircraft was performing a routine training mission. Emergency personnel remain on scene conducting a search and rescue operation, she said during a press conference.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t have an update for you on recovery efforts just yet,\u201d she said. \u201cAgain, we know that there are eight missing. The search and recovery efforts are ongoing. I hope that we will have more to share soon, but at this moment, I just don\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The aircraft was registered with Yokota Air Base in Tokyo and assigned to the 353<sup>rd<\/sup> Special Operations Wind, The Hill previously reported.<\/p>\n<p>A Japanese <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> service reported the Osprey rolled over mid-flight, describing a fire in one of the engines and an explosion before heading toward the water.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command said the cause of the crash is still unknown.<\/p>\n<p>Ospreys carry special operations troops and are hybrid aircraft that take off and land like helicopters but are much faster in the air.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>They have been criticized after several crashes in recent years.
