{"id":599881,"date":"2023-12-04T06:34:01","date_gmt":"2023-12-04T03:34:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/john-kerry-says-no-coal-plants-should-be-permitted-anywhere-in-the-world\/"},"modified":"2023-12-04T06:34:01","modified_gmt":"2023-12-04T03:34:01","slug":"john-kerry-says-no-coal-plants-should-be-permitted-anywhere-in-the-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/john-kerry-says-no-coal-plants-should-be-permitted-anywhere-in-the-world\/","title":{"rendered":"#John Kerry says no coal plants should be \u2018permitted anywhere in the world\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/07\/kerryjohn_071323tc10_w.jpg?w=900\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>U.S. climate envoy John Kerry said he thinks coal plants should not be \u201cpermitted anywhere in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During a speech at the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference, Kerry said he is becoming \u201cmore and more\u201d militant about climate policy because people are avoiding responsibility.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t need that necessarily to tell us we ought to be transitioning out of coal,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/news\/john-kerry-calls-himself-militant-and-declares-no-coal-plants-should-be-permitted-anywhere-in-the-world\/\">Kerry said about the pollution from coal plants.<\/a> \u201cThere shouldn\u2019t be any more coal power plants permitted anywhere in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s how you can do something for health,\u201d he added. \u201cAnd the reality is that we\u2019re not doing it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kerry spoke at the conference during the first-ever dedicated \u201cHealth Day,\u201d which intended to highlight the connections between the climate crisis and health crises. He said the climate crisis and health crisis are one and the same.<\/p>\n<p>Kerry is serving as the first U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, and was nominated by President Biden in November 2020. <\/p>\n<p>He said he is becoming more militant about coal plants because he does not \u201cunderstand how adults who are in positions of responsibility can be avoiding responsibility for taking away those things that are killing people on a daily basis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kerry visited China in July to speak with leaders about the country\u2019s pollution. China is currently the world\u2019s largest emitter of planet-warming gasses, and the U.S. is the second. Kerry\u2019s visit was largely unsuccessful, and he said \u201cwe are going to need a little more work\u201d to \u201cbreak new ground\u201d with China on combatting climate change.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Biden has decided to skip this year\u2019s climate summit for the first time in his presidency.
