A federal judge has granted the video platform\u2019s request for a preliminary injunction that will temporarily block the state\u2019s ban of the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2023\/digital\/news\/tiktok-judge-ruling-block-montana-ban-first-amendment-1235816104\/\"><i>Variety<\/i> reports<\/a> and court documents confirm.<\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>            Montana Governor Greg Gianforte signed the ban into law in May, claiming it was essential to \u201cprotect Montanans\u2019 private data and sensitive personal information from being harvested by the Chinese Communist Party\u201d (TikTok is owned by the Chinese <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> company ByteDance). A national ban of TikTok has been threatened by both the Trump and Biden administrations, both of which have pressured ByteDance to divest from the app. TikTok has said that China\u2019s government does not have access to U.S. user data, but that claim has been called into question by <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/tiktok-china-bytedance-user-data-d257d98125f69ac80f983e6067a84911\">allegations from a former ByteDance executive<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>            Montana\u2019s statewide ban was scheduled to go into effect on January 1, 2024, but U.S. District Court Judge Donald Molloy temporarily blocked it on Thursday (November 30), \u201cuntil a final determination on the merits\u201d of the law can be made. The state had argued that the bill did not regulate speech and therefore would not have First Amendment implications.
