Nicki Minaj has thanked Lil Wayne for saving her new album Pink Friday 2<\/em> from suffering another release date pushback.<\/p>\n

In a tweet on Sunday (December 3), Nicki showed love to her \u201cbeloved boss\u201d for swooping in and saving the day by replacing her as a performer at 103.5 KISS FM\u2019s Chicago Jingle Ball on Monday (December 4), thus preventing her album from being delayed again.<\/p>\n

\u201cHi guys, I have to tell you something,\u201d she began. \u201cOne last thing. Hope it doesn\u2019t make you sad. I won\u2019t be able to perform tmrw in #Chicago for Jingle Ball. I was so excited to see you guys. Pls accept my sincerest apologies. I\u2019ll make it up to you on the Chicago stops of my tour early next year. Details to come.<\/p>\n

\u201cHOWEVER!!!!! My beloved brother\/boss stepped up for me so that I wouldn\u2019t have to push my album back. His name is Lil Wayne AKA the GOAT. He will perform tmrw @ the Chicago show.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added: \u201cI am STILL performing @ the #Atlanta Jingle Ball on the 14th and now I\u2019ll ALSO be performing at the #Miami Jingle Ball on the 16th. Album STILL dropping this FRIDAY.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pink Friday 2<\/em> was originally supposed to land on November 17, but Nicki Minaj decided to push the project back to December 8, the same day as her 41st birthday.<\/p>\n

The delay avoided an album sales showdown between Nicki and Lil Wayne, whose collaborative LP with 2 Chainz, Welcome 2 ColleGrove<\/em>, was due to be released the same day.<\/p>\n

In a video explaining her decision, Nicki denied suggestions that her Young Money mentor had deliberately invaded her release date and said the delay was due to shipping issues regarding vinyl copies of the album.<\/p>\n

While it remains to be seen whether Lil Wayne will app<\/a>ear on Pink Friday 2<\/em>, Nicki recently shed light on the making of the album, revealing she returned to her musical roots.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I look back at a lot of my music, I\u2019m like, Oh, my God, where was the me in it?\u201d she said in an interview with Vogue<\/a><\/em>. \u201cSo for this album, I went back to the old game<\/a> plan.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe idea that saying something like that could give hope to people \u2014 that optimistic outlook is something I think I got away from,\u201d she added, referencing her lyrics \u201cI\u2019m fighting for the girls who never thought they could win\u201d<\/em> from her 2010 Pink Friday<\/em> song \u201cI\u2019m the Best.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
