\n Boxing coach Gabriel de Oliveira anticipates a \u201csmooth transition\u201d for Paige VanZant as she begins the next chapter of her career with Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll have more time to work with Paige, because she will only fight in November or early next year \u2014 we don\u2019t have the date set yet \u2013 but we\u2019ve already seen how she moves,\u201d the American Top Team coach said in a recent interview with MMA Fighting. \u201cShe\u2019s not totally raw. We\u2019ll have to work, add some concepts and change a few concepts she\u2019s carrying over, but I think it\u2019s going to be a smooth transition.\u201d<\/p>\n

In August, VanZant announced she had agreed to a four-fight deal with Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, worth more than $1 million, a month after her final UFC fight, in which she lost to Amanda Ribas.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis has been in talks ever since I was a free agent. This is kind of where I felt the most passionate about, and it completely lined up with what I wanted and what they wanted and we were really able to create a happ<\/a>y partnership,\u201d VanZant said during last month\u2019s introductory press conference. \u201cIt\u2019s a win-win for both of us.\u201d<\/p>\n

De Oliveira, who has trained a number of MMA fighters, also commended VanZant\u2019s thirst \u201cfor knowledge.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe most important is that she\u2019s willing to do it. One cool thing about her is that we say something and she does it, she wants to learn, she\u2019s thirsty for knowledge,\u201d he said. \u201cSome other athletes we eventually work with, when we say something they go, \u2018Oh, no, not that, I don\u2019t want,\u2019 you know? \u2018I want my way, this is my way.\u2019 She\u2019s not like that, she understands she has to adapt and make some changes in order to do well in this new sport.\u201d<\/p>\n

Though VanZant, 26, is widely trained in the art of viral Instagram posts, she\u2019s also been sharing snippets of her progress, including a recent gym photo with de Oliveira himself.<\/p>\n
