John Cornyn (R-Texas), the main sponsor of <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/118th-congress\/senate-bill\/3457\/amendments?s=2&amp;r=1&amp;q=%7B%22search%22%3A%22Blackburn%22%7D\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/118th-congress\/senate-bill\/3457\/amendments?s=2&amp;r=1&amp;q=%7B%22search%22%3A%22Blackburn%22%7D\">the legislation<\/a>, said Friday in a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cornyn.senate.gov\/news\/cornyn-klobuchar-colleagues-introduce-bill-to-reform-live-event-ticketing-system\/\">press release<\/a>. \u201cThis legislation would rebuild trust in the ticketing system by cracking down on bots and others who take advantage of consumers through price gouging and other predatory practices and increase price transparency for ticket purchasers.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>The \u201cFans First Act\u201d aims to add more transparency, promote consumer protection and address \u201cbad actors,\u201d \u2014 such as resellers who engage in \u201cillegal ticket sale practices.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The legislation also features sponsors like Sens. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), Peter Welch (D-Vt.), Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) and Ben Ray Luj\u00e1n (D-N.M.)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBuying a ticket to see your favorite artist or team is out of reach for too many Americans,\u201d Klobuchar said in the release. \u201cBots, hidden fees, and predatory practices are hurting consumers whether they want to catch a home <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a>, an up-and-coming artist or a major headliner like Taylor Swift or Bad Bunny. From ensuring fans get refunds for canceled shows to banning speculative ticket sales, this bipartisan legislation will improve the ticketing experience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The legislation comes in the wake of controversy surrounding LiveNation\u2019s Ticketmaster, notably in the sale of pop star Taylor Swift\u2019s tickets to her \u201cThe Eras Tour\u201d shows last year. Verified users who tried to buy tickets to the tour in a presale event reported a wide breadth of problems \u2014 including frozen web pages, long queues, ticket delays and an excessive number of bots and unverified users flooding the site.<\/p>\n<p>The situation even prompted a response from the \u201cStyle\u201d singer herself.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s really difficult for me to trust an outside entity with these relationships and loyalties,\u201d Swift said in a post on her Instagram story at the time, \u201cand excruciating for me to just watch mistakes h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>en with no recourse.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cThere are a multitude of reasons why people had such a hard time trying to get tickets and I\u2019m trying to figure out how this situation can be improved moving forward,\u201d the multiple Grammy Award winner wrote.<\/p>\n<p>If passed, the new legislation would require all ticket sellers and resellers to disclose the total cost, including fees, and a breakdown of the price.
