\n ABC is checking out of Station 19<\/em>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n The Disney-owned broadcast network on Friday revealed that the upcoming seventh season of the firefighter-focused spinoff of Grey\u2019s Anatomy <\/em>will be its last.<\/p>\n

\n \u201cFor seven seasons, Station 19<\/em> has been a highlight of the ABC lineup thanks to Shonda [Rhimes] and Betsy [Beers\u2019] incredible vision, beloved characters and compelling storytelling,\u201d said Craig Erwich, president, Disney Television Group. \u201cWith Zoanne [Clack] and Peter [Paige] at the helm of the upcoming farewell season, we have so much to look forward to, most notably the celebration of the show\u2019s milestone 100th episode.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n The news<\/a> comes as Station 19 <\/em>will return for season seven with new showrunners Clack and Paige. The duo took over for Krista Vernoff, who stepped down as showrunner from both Station 19 <\/em>and Grey\u2019s Anatomy <\/em>after last season. Vernoff took over for series<\/a> creator Stacy McKee after season two and better integrated both shows.<\/p>\n

\n Station 19 <\/em>will reach its 100th episode landmark in its upcoming seventh season. The drama, starring Jason George and Jaina Lee Ortiz, is the second spinoff to stem from Grey\u2019s Anatomy<\/em>. The California-set drama Private Practice <\/em>ran for six seasons and wrapp<\/a>ed in 2013.<\/p>\n

\n Like Grey\u2019s<\/em>, which returns for its 20th season in 2024, Station 19 <\/em>is executive-produced by Rhimes and Beers. With Station 19 <\/em>coming to a close, it leaves Grey\u2019s<\/em> as Rhimes\u2019 last show for Disney after she decamped years ago to Netflix. Both shows are produced in-house by ABC Signature.<\/p>\n

\n The seventh and final season of Station 19<\/em> debuts March 14 at 10 p.m. on ABC. ABC recently picked up the seventh season of fellow first responder drama 911<\/em> after Fox passed on the pricey drama produced by Disney\u2019s 20th Television. <\/p>\n

\n Station 19 <\/em>joins CBS\u2019 Blue Bloods, Bob Hearts Abishola, SWAT <\/em>and Young Sheldon<\/em>, as well as The CW\u2019s Superman & Lois <\/em>and NBC\u2019s La Brea <\/em>and Magnum P.I.<\/em>, <\/em>in concluding next year.
