Martha Stewart is an expert at holiday party planning, so of course, she has perfected the art of shutting down a festive event that goes on a little too long.<\/p>\n

The lifestyle icon recently stopped by \u201cThe Drew Barrymore Show\u201d<\/a> to share some of her favorite holiday recipes, like spicy candied popcorn.<\/p>\n

While she prepared the sweet and savory snack, host Drew Barrymore asked Stewart about her tips for holiday party etiquette, including how to getting rid of lingering guests who can\u2019t take a hint.<\/p>\n

\u201cMartha, if you\u2019re throwing a dinner party and it\u2019s like, that time, and you want everybody to leave, what\u2019s a great way to get people to leave out of the dinner party?\u201d Barrymore asked.<\/p>\n

Stewart replied, \u201cFrankly, I just say \u2018I\u2019m going to bed.\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n

As the audience laughed, Stewart confirmed it’s her go-to move. But, she has had to resort to more extreme methods for guests who continue to linger.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cJust turn the lights off. Set off the fire alarm,\u201d she suggested when Barrymore asked what to do if the initial plan fails.<\/p>\n

Stewart added, \u201cOne night, I had the fire department show up. Nobody would leave. We just put the fire alarm on.\u201d<\/p>\n

When the audience gasped, the television personality revealed she was joking. <\/p>\n

\u201cNot really,\u201d she said. \u201cWe did have a malfunction in the furnace and all the fire department showed up. The fire chief came in. He told everybody, \u2018Get outside.\u2019 It was like zero outside, and he made everybody go out without their coats.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s one way to get rid of them,\u201d she playfully concluded.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 82-year-old dished out plenty of advice about a variety of topics, such as regifting. Stewart warned the audience to keep track of who they receive presents from because she once made the mistake of regifting a present to the person who first gave her the gift.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She gave Barrymore a few dating tips, as well. As the two chatted about the actor\u2019s love life, Stewart casually revealed that she recently met someone.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI got knocked out of my socks last week by somebody,\u201d Stewart said in a clip<\/a> from the episode, gushing that the person was \u201cvery attractive.\u201d<\/p>\n

But, she was tight-lipped on any further details.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIt wasn\u2019t exactly app<\/a>ropriate, but it was good for a night,\u201d Stewart shared before the audience erupted into applause.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cNothing happened, we didn\u2019t go home together or anything, but it was just like a little flirtation,\u201d she continued. \u201cIt\u2019s nice.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
