{"id":600881,"date":"2023-12-12T19:14:05","date_gmt":"2023-12-12T16:14:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/consumer-group-presses-for-stronger-botox-warnings\/"},"modified":"2023-12-12T19:14:05","modified_gmt":"2023-12-12T16:14:05","slug":"consumer-group-presses-for-stronger-botox-warnings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/consumer-group-presses-for-stronger-botox-warnings\/","title":{"rendered":"#Consumer group presses for stronger Botox warnings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/12\/botox_010417_AP.jpeg?w=900\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>A consumer group is pushing the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for stronger Botox warnings, pointing to the danger of negative health effects from the cosmetic injections.<\/p>\n<p>In a Tuesday <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.citizen.org\/article\/petition-to-the-fda-to-strengthen-safety-warning-for-botox-and-related-drugs-and-remove-misleading-claims-from-botox-botox-cosmetic-labeling\/\">petition<\/a>, Public Citizen asks the agency to \u201ctake action to strengthen the risk warning on the labeling of all <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roved botulinum toxin biological products.\u201d <\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>It warns that the use of \u201ccosmetic and therapeutic\u201d versions of the aforementioned products at \u201crecommended doses\u201d can still result in negative health effects.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe petition asks that the black box warning of both cosmetic and therapeutic Botox and related drugs should make it clear that they are associated with systemic iatrogenic botulism and related symptoms, even when used at recommended doses, in initial or subsequent (repeated) treatment,\u201d a press release by Public Citizen on the petition reads.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It specifically points to the risk of \u201cdescending muscle paralysis or weakness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur petition is based on clear postmarketing evidence that refutes industry propaganda claiming that Botox and related drugs are \u2018always safe\u2019 and that no \u2018definitive\u2019 cases of botulism have occurred with recommended doses,\u201d Azza AbuDagga, health services researcher at Public Citizen\u2019s Health Research Group, said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The Hill has reached out to the FDA for comment on the petition. <\/p>\n<p>The usage of Botox recently came into the national spotlight, with former Rep.
