\n MGM+ is returning to Beacon 23<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n The premium cable network formerly known as Epix has officially picked up a second season of the sci-fi drama series<\/a> starring Stephan James and Lena Headey.<\/p>\n

\n The news<\/a> comes as MGM+ just wrapp<\/a>ed the first season of the drama from creator Zak Penn and aired a teaser for the second season of Beacon 23<\/em> (watch it below). Season two of the series, which was originally developed for Spectrum Originals and was poised to have a second window on AMC before the former bailed on originals, was already completed as filming on both cycles of the show was done back-to-back.<\/p>\n

\n \u201cThe creative team behind\u00a0Beacon 23<\/em>\u00a0has masterfully brought Hugh Howey\u2019s best-selling book to life, and we\u2019re excited for fans to continue this journey into\u00a0Beacon 23<\/em>\u2019s\u00a0universe of suspense, emotion and unforeseen twists,\u201d said Michael Wright, head of MGM+.<\/p>\n

\n Glen Mazzara (The Walking Dead<\/em>) and Joy Blake (The Passage<\/em>) serve as showrunners on season two, which will see James return alongside Natasha Mumba and Ellen Wong. Boat Rocker is the studio on the drama, with exec producers including Mazzara, Blake, David Fortier, Ivan Schneeberg, James Middleton, Nick Nantell, Katie O\u2019Connell Marsh,\u00a0Liz Varner and leading man James.<\/p>\n

\n Season one of the drama followed Aster (Game<\/a> of Thrones <\/em>grad Headey), a government agent, and Halan (James), a stoic ex-military man, whose fates became entangled after they found themselves trapped together inside one of many Beacons that served as a lighthouse for intergalactic travel<\/a>ers. Here\u2019s how MGM+ describes season two: \u201cBeacon 23 is now little more than a prison with Aleph onboard, and The Artifact provides more questions than answers. Without a clear path forward, the inhabitants of Beacon 23 must rely on each other, but their conflicting agendas may get in the way.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n \u201cBeacon 23\u2019s<\/em> season two ups the game: more action, more mysteries, more twists and exciting new characters. It\u2019s a thrill ride. \n At MGM+, Beacon 23 <\/em>joins a scripted roster that also includes Godfather of Harlem, From, Billy the Kid, The Winter King <\/em>and A Spy Among Friends, <\/em>among others.<\/p>\n
