Henry Cuellar (Texas) on Tuesday said the illegal crossings at the U.S.-southern border are \u201churting\u201d President Biden\u2019s campaign, arguing a resentment is growing among Hispanic and Democratic voters.<\/p>\n<p>Asked on <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a>Nation\u2019s \u201cThe Hill,\u201d about if the situation at the border is \u201churting\u201d Biden\u2019s campaign, Cuellar said, \u201cAbsolutely.\u201d <\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cMy district is about 80 percent Hispanic Democratic and guess what? When I go to church or when I go to the store, what are people telling me?\u201d Cuellar continued. \u201c\u2018Henry, you got to secure the border. We got to do something.&#8217;\u201d <\/p>\n<p>In a push for tougher measures at Texas\u2019s border with Mexico \u2014 which is located near his district \u2014 Cuellar pointed out that his father, born in Ghana, followed a \u201clegal pathway\u201d to become a legal U.S. resident, whereas the U.S. is now seeing \u201ctoo many people jump the line.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a resentment\u2026growing among Hispanics and Democrats because they followed the law and now we\u2019re seeing people just jump the line and end up in New York and other places,\u201d Cuellar said. <\/p>\n<p>Cuellar argued for the need for repercussions at the border and a different <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roach towards discouraging illegal migration into the United States. <\/p>\n<p>Cuellar recounted how the U.S. used to use Title 8, a section of the U.S. code that lays out processing rules, including those for the expedited deportation of migrants who are encountered between legal ports of entry. The policy bars those removed individuals from seeking re-entry for five years. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou got to know how to use Title 8 \u2014 that is you detain eight people, don\u2019t let them in and then you deport people, and you show videos,\u201d Cuellar said. \u201cAll we do is see people coming in but we don\u2019t see any messages of people or videos of people going back.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Title 8 policies somewhat took a backseat when the Trump administration enforced the Title 42 policy, which allowed for the quick expulsion of asylum seekers throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The policy was widely used during the Biden administration before it expired in May and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) began processing individuals again under Title 8. <\/p>\n<p>Cuellar noted a common \u201cpull factor\u201d is that migrants \u201cfeel that they can get to the border, go to New York, go somewhere else and wait five years, maybe give a wrong address.\u201d He pushed for enforcing existing laws, including<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/immigrationequality.org\/asylum\/asylum-manual\/asylum-law-basics-2\/asylum-law-basics-elements-of-asylum-law\/#:~:text=INA%20%C2%A7%20101(a)(,social%20group%20or%20political%20opinion).\"> Asylum law<\/a> which dictates asylum seekers need to demonstrate persecution based on nationality, race, political beliefs, religion or <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social<\/a> class. <\/p>\n<p>Migrant smuggling in Eagle Pass and El Paso experienced a recent surge. The Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency announced on Sunday it was closing the international railway crossing bridges in the two Texas border towns in the wake of the uptick, claiming smuggling organizations were using freight trains to move migrants through Mexico. <\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr3_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>The surge comes as Senate negotiators failed to come to an agreement on border policy before the end of the year.
