EXCLUSIVE –\u00a0<\/span>Killer Mike has had enough of being humble and is thrilled to know that his album Michael<\/em>\u00a0won \u201cRap Album of the Year\u201d at this year\u2019s DX Awards.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ve heard your own experience in this life,\u201d he said on Saturday (December 23). \u201cIt\u2019s songs on there that talk about the love and solidarity of women, from your mother to your aunts to your wife. It\u2019s songs on there that, for the first time, celebrate the junkie, and not the person that has them addicted.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cI don\u2019t say that lightly, when I say, \u2018Album of the Year.\u2019 This album pushed the emotions of masculinity past where rap had prior. It acknowledges women \u2014 Black women \u2014 that evolved me in a different way. It acknowledges addiction in a radically different way.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo when I say that, I don\u2019t say that lightly,\u201d he concluded. \u201cAnd I don\u2019t say that to play. Because if I didn\u2019t, I wouldn\u2019t say it.\u201d<\/p>\n
