\n If each wide receiver on the Giants was his own stock, the investing market would be in complete chaos.<\/p>\n

It seems every day there is a new receiver leapfrogging others and skyrocketing toward the 53-man roster \u2014 where just two or three spots remain behind locks Darius Slayton, Golden Tate and Sterling Shepard. That\u2019s not enough room to fit training camp playmakers Corey Coleman, David Sills, Alex Bachman, Austin Mack and C.J. Board, plus newcomer Johnny Holton.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s been a lot of fun to watch,\u201d Daniel Jones said. \u201cAs quarterbacks, it\u2019s a good feeling. We\u2019ve had a lot of guys step up making plays for us.\u201d<\/p>\n

The final strong impression left in Thursday\u2019s camp-ending scrimmage was made by Bachman (two touchdowns) and Board (one touchdown and a streaking, diving catch). Jones was 6 of 9 passing in a scrimmage heavy on specialized situations, such as losing headset communication and starting drives at the 1-yard line.<\/p>\n

If coach Joe Judge spends a disproportionate amount of time on receiver when cutting the roster down by Saturday, it will be deserved. Factors such as returner and gunner ability on special teams enter the equation.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to make sure we do all of our diligence to give every player the right evaluation, to think long term in terms of what this team is going to be like, where our depth is,\u201d Judge said. \u201cWe\u2019ve made a lot of progress this camp.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n<\/hr>\n

Saquon Barkley and Evan Engram had touchdowns in the scrimmage, but safety Jabrill Peppers joked Engram\u2019s wouldn\u2019t have been a score if tackling was permitted. No matter what the Giants\u2019 Twitter<\/a> account says.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople want to see points scored,\u201d Peppers quipped. \u201cBut, in my book, that\u2019s a tackle.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n<\/hr>\n

On the same day co-owner John Mara reinforced the unlikelihood of fans inside MetLife Stadium at any point during the season, the Giants scrimmaged through a steady hum of piped-in crowd noise in the empty building.<\/p>\n

It was startling to some any time the ambient noise was cut. Not to Judge.<\/p>\n

\u201cOnce you get zeroed in on game<\/a> action, it\u2019s you, the guys on the sideline you communicate with and the players on the field you are watching,\u201d Judge said. \u201cYou lose any consciousness of what\u2019s going on in the stands.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Giants are expected to play some road games in front of fans (Dallas), but Judge won\u2019t complain about a competitive disadvantage created by different state and local regulations.<\/p>\n

\u201cFans are a crucial part of this game,\u201d Judge said. \u201cI\u2019m looking forward to getting to any stadium we can where there are people there, whether they are cheering, booing.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the injury front, Tate (hamstring) and Montre Hartage worked off to the side with trainers, Blake Martinez participated in individual drills but not the scrimmage, and Sills stayed inside with trainers.<\/p>\n

Kevin Zeitler (workload management) did not participate, giving Chad Slade a late opportunity with the starting offensive line. Logan Ryan cannot participate until he finishes clearing the COVID-19 entry protocol, which is expected Friday.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
