Of course, on Tuesday morning, we all logged on after a restful Christmas to find that\u00a0Kim Kardashian<\/strong>\u2018s ex-husband had posted a surprising message to his\u00a0Instagram<\/strong> account. The message \u2014 which was written in Hebrew \u2014 read that Ye wanted to \u201csincerely apologize\u201d to the Jewish community, and was going to go about \u201cpromoting unity\u201d after saying all kinds of antisemitic things for a really, really long time.<\/p>\n

As you\u2019ll recall, the message went a little something like this (below):<\/p>\n

Your forgiveness is important to me, and I am committed to making amends and promoting unity.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Memory refreshed! And it was a weird statement, wasn\u2019t it?? Not only was it abrupt after a looooooong period of Ye\u2019s unfortunate and unsettling comments, but it was also very\u2026 sanitized. And now, well, we might know why.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday morning,\u00a0TMZ<\/em> fed Ye\u2019s public apology into\u00a0Scribbr<\/strong>\u2018s free AI-generated content detector. The tech site analyzed the writing and determined there\u2019s a whopping 85% chance that Ye used\u00a0ChatGPT<\/strong> or some other artificial intelligence software to write the apology! Not 50-50 or something, but freakin\u2019 85 percent! That\u2019s not great!!<\/p>\n

Specifically, Scribbr highlighted points in the apology including \u201csincerely apologize,\u201d and \u201cit was not my intention to hurt,\u201d and \u201cpromoting unity\u201d as three among several phrases that are very commonly used by chatbots. Oof\u2026<\/p>\n

And that\u2019s not all!! Skeptical at Ye\u2019s apology source,\u00a0TMZ<\/em> logged onto ChatGPT themselves to play around with the software. They fed it several prompts and tried to get a public apology similar to the\u00a0Hurricane<\/em> rapp<\/a>er\u2019s Tuesday statement. Here is what they came up with (below), with the bolded-out sections of the apology being exact phrases or passages used by the Chicago-born music producer:<\/p>\n

So, it\u2019s not for certain, but it seems like it\u2019s possible (very<\/em> possible?) that Ye \u2014 or someone on his team \u2014 used a chatbot to compose his apology. That, uh, kind of goes against the whole point of making amends, doesn\u2019t it? You can\u2019t have a robot make your amends for you<\/em>!!<\/p>\n
