{"id":60293,"date":"2020-09-04T14:56:00","date_gmt":"2020-09-04T11:56:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/taylor-swift-shake-it-off-copyright-lawsuit-can-proceed-judge-rules\/"},"modified":"2020-09-04T14:56:00","modified_gmt":"2020-09-04T11:56:00","slug":"taylor-swift-shake-it-off-copyright-lawsuit-can-proceed-judge-rules","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/taylor-swift-shake-it-off-copyright-lawsuit-can-proceed-judge-rules\/","title":{"rendered":"#Taylor Swift \u2018Shake It Off\u2019 copyright lawsuit can proceed, judge rules"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Taylor Swift \u2018Shake It Off\u2019 copyright lawsuit can proceed, judge rules<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div id=\"article-wrapper\" role=\"main\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<div id=\"author-byline\">\n                By Bruce Haring, Deadline<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>        September 4, 2020 <span>|<\/span> 7:56am         <\/p>\n<div>\n                        A Los Angeles federal court judge has decided that two songwriters who claim their lyrics were pilfered by Taylor Swift for her massive 2014 hit \u201cShake It Off\u201d may have a case.<\/p>\n<p>US District Judge Michael Fitzgerald that songwriters Sean Hall and Nathan Butler \u201chave sufficiently alleged a protectable selection and arrangement or a sequence of creative expression\u201d and Swift\u2019s \u201cuse as alleged is similar enough\u201d to survive the motion to dismiss.<\/p>\n<p>Hall and Butler filed suit i 2017, saying the 2001 3LW recording \u201cPlayas Gon\u2019 Play,\u201d was the source of Swift\u2019s lyrics on her \u201cShake It Off.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 3LW song includes the lyrics \u201cPlayas, they gonna play, and haters, they gonna hate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span><iframe loading=\"lazy\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/dD9A8x_xn5g?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;fs=1&#038;autohide=2&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;wmode=transparent\" title=\"Video\" width=\"640\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\nSwift\u2019s song has the lyrics: \u201cCause the players gonna play, play, play, play, play and the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span><iframe loading=\"lazy\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nfWlot6h_JM?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;fs=1&#038;autohide=2&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;wmode=transparent\" title=\"Video\" width=\"640\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Fitzgerald dismissed the Hall and Butler claim in 2017. He said then that their lyrics lacked sufficient originality to merit copyright protection.
