ScHoolboy Q has started the year off right, with a handful of new gold and platinum certifications from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).<\/p>\n

On Wednesday (January 3), eight singles and one album from the Los Angeles native were awarded new certifications by the RIAA<\/a>. Going gold for the first time were his 2016 E-40 assisted song \u201cDope Dealer,\u201d his 2019 Travis Scott-assisted single \u201cCHopstix,\u201d his 2014 2 Chainz-assisted song, \u201cWhat They Want\u201d and his 2019 album, CrasH Talk<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Q\u2019s 21 Savage-assisted song \u201cFloating\u201d and \u201cNumb Numb Juice\u201d \u2014 both released in 2019 \u2014 both went platinum for the first time, while 2014\u2019s \u201cStudio\u201d and \u201cMan of the Year\u201d both made it to 3x platinum and 2015\u2019s \u201cCollard Greens\u201d with Kendrick Lamar is now 4x platinum.<\/p>\n

The new musical milestones arrive at the top of what ScHoolboy Q has promised will be a major comeback \u2013 which hopefully will include his first album in nearly five years.<\/p>\n

While attending Top Dawg Entertainment\u2019s 10th annual Christmas toy drive last month, Q told TMZ<\/a><\/em> that he\u2019s got \u201csomething special [for 2024]. I\u2019ma be back. I will be back!\u201d<\/p>\n

Last summer, he gave the Back On Figg<\/em> podcast a preview of his long-awaited album, and the hosts told fans it would be coming \u201cvery, very soon.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is something big right now,\u201d they said on the show. \u201cWe have been in the studio with my brother every week. The album sounding fire. Fire, you know what I\u2019m saying?\u201d<\/p>\n

They continued: \u201cIt\u2019s crazy to be in those processes because I\u2019ve never really been in the mixing process. It\u2019s also an experience, you feel me. And we kind of documenting the whole process\u2026 The album is there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Co-signing their news<\/a> with the caption, \u201cMy guys,\u201d Q then reassured a fan who asked if he was capp<\/a>ing this time. \u201cI\u2019m actually not,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The as-of-yet untitled effort will follow 2019\u2019s CrasH Talk<\/em>, which featured appearances from Travis Scott, 6lack, Ty Dolla $ign, YG, 21 Savage, Kid Cudi and Lil Baby. It debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 with 81,000 album-equivalent units sold in its first week, making for ScHoolboy Q\u2019s third Top 10 album.<\/p>\n

Of course, the \u201cCHopstix\u201d rapper has been promising this album for some time now \u2013 once telling fans that they could expect it at the top of 2021.<\/p>\n

He also promised during a performance at London\u2019s O2 Academy Brixton in January 2020 that his follow-up album would be released in 2020.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ma constantly be here bruh, I\u2019m not lying to you, I swear to God,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019ma drop a whole other album this year, I promise you that. I promise you that, I\u2019m not lying this time! And I\u2019m the most lying-ist muthafucka ever! I\u2019ll drop next month. Yeah right. N-gga, I\u2019m dropping an album this year, I promise you that.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been working on this album since CrasH Talk <\/em>came out. I been working non-stop. I constantly work because I\u2019m hungry and I love to create. And every time when I come out and I see my fans, it makes me appreciate this shit way more than what it is.\u201d<\/p>\n
