Hogwarts Legacy<\/em> has sold more than 22 million units, publisher Warner Bros. Game<\/a>s and developer Avalanche Software announced. <\/p>\n

The open-world action RPG based on the Harry Potter<\/em> franchise first launched for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series<\/a>, and PC via Steam<\/a> and Epic Games Store<\/a> on February 10, 2023, followed by PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on May 5, 2023, and Switch on November 14, 2023.<\/p>\n

15 million copies of Hogwarts Legacy<\/em> were sold ahead of the game\u2019s PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch launch, meaning the game has moved an additional seven million units since. App<\/a>roximately two million were sold during the December 2023 holiday season.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not just the unit sold that I\u2019m so proud of, it\u2019s just that it delighted the fans so much,\u201d Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment president David Haddad told Variety<\/a> in a statement. \u201cIt brought Harry Potter<\/em> to life in a new way for gamers where they could be themselves in this world, in this story. And that\u2019s what the team at Avalanche set out to do when they were developing the game and I think that\u2019s really why it resonated so well and remains the best-selling game of the year in the entire industry worldwide. That\u2019s a position that typically is held by one of these incumbent\u2019s sequel games and we\u2019re so proud that we\u2019ve been able to break into the top ranks.\u201d<\/p>\n
