\n Family and friends of Adan Canto took to social media<\/a> on Tuesday to remember the actor following news<\/a> that The Cleaning Lady<\/em> and Designated Survivor<\/em> star died of cancer at age 42. <\/p>\n

\n \u201cForever my treasure Adan, see you soon,\u201d Stephanie Canto, Adan\u2019s wife, wrote on Instagram<\/a>. She paired the message with a passage from Matthew 6:19-21 and a photo of the couple together. <\/p>\n

\n Canto died Tuesday of app<\/a>endiceal cancer, his rep told\u00a0The Hollywood Reporter<\/em>. His diagnosis had not been made public. <\/p>\n

\n \u201cAdan had a depth of spirit that few truly knew. Those who glimpsed it were changed forever,\u201d read a statement. \u201cHe will be greatly missed by so many.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n Along with his wife, he is survived by their two children, Roman Alder, 3, and Eve Josephine, 1. <\/p>\n

\n Canto was known by many as Aaron Shore on Netflix\u2019s Designated Survivor<\/em>, the White House Chief of Staff-turned-Vice President to Kiefer Sutherland\u2018s Tom Kirkman. Sutherland expressed his condolences and grief at Canto\u2019s death via Instagram on Tuesday. <\/p>\n

\n \u201cHe was such a wonderful spirit,\u201d Sutherland wrote of his co-star.<\/a> \u201cAs an actor his desire to do well, to be great, and then do better, was truly impressive and he will be greatly missed.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n Sutherland continued, \u201cI am also heartbroken for his wife, Steph and his two young children. Adan, may you rest in peace.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n Halle Berry, who directed and co-starred with Canto in 2020\u2019s Bruised<\/em>, wrote on Instagram<\/a> that she doesn\u2019t \u201chave the words just yet\u2026but my dear sweet friend Adan just gained his wings. Forever, forever in my heart.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n More recently, Canto played Arman Morales for two seasons on Fox\u2019s The Cleaning Lady<\/em>. The series<\/a> is currently filming its\u00a0third season, but Canto was not involved in the upcoming season due to his health. <\/p>\n

\n \u201cHe\u2019ll always be our Arman,\u201d the Fox TV account posted on social media Tuesday<\/a>. A statement from Warner Bros. Television and FOX Entertainment described his death as an \u201cunfathomable loss,\u201d and The Hollywood Reporter<\/em> confirmed that Fox will honor Canto with a title card when the show returns on March 5. <\/p>\n

\n Sean Lew, Canto\u2019s The Cleaning Lady<\/em> co-star, wrote on Instagram Stories that he was \u201chonored to be\u201d the actor\u2019s castmate, adding he was \u201cone of the coolest people\u201d and that the team will \u201ccontinue the show in honor of you.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n Shiva Negar, also part of the show\u2019s cast, also posted a series of photos of her character alongside Canto\u2019s, writing \u201cI can\u2019t, I just can\u2019t.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n In addition to his roles in Designated Survivor<\/em> and The Cleaning Lady<\/em>, Canto played real-life politician\u00a0Rodrigo Lara Bonia in the first season of Netflix\u2019s drug cartel series\u00a0Narcos<\/em>, and also appeared in ABC\u2019s\u00a0Blood and Oil\u00a0<\/em>and Fox\u2019s\u00a0The Following.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

\n In film, he held roles in\u00a0Agent Game<\/a><\/em>,\u00a0Bruised,<\/em>\u00a0X-Men: Days of Future Past.<\/em> Canto was born in Mexico and raised in Texas. He was also a singer, guitarist and filmmaker. <\/p>\n
