As such, this season has delivered Oscar-worthy performances from two (or more) supporting actors and actresses in each film \u2014 which could result in the Academy nominating more than one supporting actor and\/or actress from their respective features.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Frontrunners include Danielle Brooks and Taraji P. Henson in Warner Bros.\u2019 <em>The Color Purple<\/em>, Robert De Niro and Jesse Plemons in <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">App<\/a>le\/Paramount\u2019s <em>Killers of the Flower Moon<\/em>, Willem Dafoe and Mark\u00a0Ruffalo in Searchlight\u2019s <em>Poor Things<\/em>, and two sets of supporting performers in Universal\u2019s <em>Oppenheimer<\/em>: actresses Emily Blunt and Florence Pugh, and actors Matt Damon and Robert Downey Jr.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    But there are also strong contenders in Ben Affleck and Chris Messina in Amazon Studios\u2019 <em>Air<\/em>; Jamie Bell and Paul Mescal in Searchlight\u2019s <em>All of Us Strangers<\/em>; Colman Domingo and Corey Hawkins in <em>The Color Purple<\/em>; and Harris Dickinson, Holt McCallany\u00a0and Jeremy Allen White in A24\u2019s <em>The Iron Claw<\/em>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    There are five slots each for supporting actor and actress, and the Academy doesn\u2019t limit the number of nominees from the same film. While it seems that one or two films might monopolize the supporting categories, it wouldn\u2019t be the first time that a single feature nabs multiple noms for supporting actor or actress. In fact, it\u2019s happened quite often in the Oscars\u2019 95-year history \u2014 as recently as last year\u2019s <em>The Banshees of Inisherin<\/em> (nominees Brendan Gleeson and Barry Keoghan) and <em>Everything Everywhere All at Once<\/em> (winner Jamie Lee Curtis, who won over castmate Stephanie Hsu).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Twenty-one <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">movies<\/a> have had multiple performers nominated for supporting actor. The first instance was Harry Carey Sr. and Claude Rains for <em>Mr. Smith Goes to Washington<\/em> in 1940, although Ben Johnson was the first to win over a co-star (Jeff Bridges), for <em>The Last Picture Show<\/em> in 1972. In the supporting actress category, there have been 35 instances of the Academy honoring multiple women from the same film, with Hattie McDaniel and Olivia de Havilland the first to go head-to-head in 1940 for <em>Gone With the Wind<\/em>. (McDaniel won, becoming the first Black performer to win an Oscar.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    In the past, seven actors have won over a co-star in the same category: Daniel Kaluuya over LaKeith Stanfield (<em>Judas and the Black Messiah<\/em>), Sam Rockwell over Woody Harrelson (<em>Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri<\/em>), Jack Nicholson over John Lithgow (<em>Terms of Endearment<\/em>), Timothy Hutton over Judd Hirsch (<em>Ordinary People<\/em>), Jason Robards over Maximilian Schell (<em>Julia<\/em>), De Niro over Michael V. Gazzo and Lee Strasberg (<em>The Godfather Part II<\/em>), and Johnson over Bridges (<em>The Last Picture Show<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Similarly, 13 actresses have taken home the gold over their co-star in the same category, including when McDaniel beat de Havilland: Celeste Holm over Anne Revere (<em>Gentleman\u2019s Agreement<\/em>), Teresa Wright over May Whitty (<em>Mrs. Miniver<\/em>), Helen Hayes over Maureen Stapleton (<em>Airport<\/em>), Cloris Leachman over Ellen Burstyn (<em>The Last Picture Show<\/em>), Tatum O\u2019Neal over Madeline Kahn (<em>Paper Moon<\/em>), Meryl Streep over Jane Alexander (<em>Kramer vs. Kramer<\/em>), Jessica Lange over Teri Garr (<em>Tootsie<\/em>), Dianne Wiest over Jennifer Tilly (<em>Bullets Over Broadway<\/em>), Catherine Zeta-Jones over Queen Latifah (<em>Chicago<\/em>), Melissa Leo over Amy Adams (<em>The Fighter<\/em>), Octavia Spencer over Jessica Chastain (<em>The Help<\/em>) and, last year, Curtis over Hsu (<em>Everything Everywhere All at\u00a0Once<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    De Niro has been in this boat before, when he beat his co-stars from <em>The Godfather Part II<\/em> (the last film to receive more than two acting noms in the same category).
