{"id":605276,"date":"2024-01-19T07:16:08","date_gmt":"2024-01-19T04:16:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/house-committee-requests-austins-testimony-on-recent-hospitalization\/"},"modified":"2024-01-19T07:16:08","modified_gmt":"2024-01-19T04:16:08","slug":"house-committee-requests-austins-testimony-on-recent-hospitalization","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/house-committee-requests-austins-testimony-on-recent-hospitalization\/","title":{"rendered":"#House committee requests Austin\u2019s testimony on recent hospitalization"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/01\/65a1b8e18eaf34.31403108.jpeg?w=900\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has been asked to testify before the House Committee on Armed Services on his recent controversial hospitalization.<\/p>\n<p>In a Thursday letter, House Armed Services Committee Chair Mike Rogers (R-Ohio) asked that Austin attend a hearing on Feb. 14, saying the committee \u201cexpects to hear your direct testimony regarding decisions made to withhold information from the President, Congress, and the American people.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>He noted that the two previously spoke about his hospitalization, but that a number of his concerns were not addressed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am alarmed you refused to answer whether you instructed your staff to not inform the President of the United States or anyone else of your hospitalization,\u201d the letter reads. \u201cUnfortunately, this leads me to believe that information is being withheld from Congress. Congress must understand what h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ened and who made decisions to prevent the disclosure of the whereabouts of a cabinet secretary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He continued, \u201cIn the meantime, it is my expectation that you promptly answer all outstanding questions so the Committee can review the necessary information in preparation for the upcoming hearing,\u201d the letter continued.<\/p>\n<p>Rogers called on Austin\u2019s full cooperation, saying, \u201cAnything short of that is completely unacceptable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Austin was slammed by Republicans, and a few Democrats, after <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> broke that Biden learned of Austin\u2019s hospitalization only shortly before it became public knowledge.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Mass.), an Armed Services Committee member, was one of the few Democrats to suggest Austin should be penalized over his secret hospitalization.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s up to the president as to whether he fires Secretary Austin, but I tell you what, he needs to send a decisive message that this is never gonna happen again,\u201d Moulton said on \u201cThe Hill\u201d on NewsNation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would fire him in about five minutes,\u201d Moulton added.<\/p>\n<p>President Biden noted that while Austin displayed a lapse of judgment in waiting to inform the White House of his hospitalization, he still has confidence in his ability to lead the Pentagon.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr3_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Austin was released from Walter Reed National Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., on Monday following complications stemming from a December surgery related to prostate cancer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI also am thankful and appreciative for all the well wishes I received for a speedy recovery.
